Maybe. I'm hoping some aussies try it first and get decent results.

 

They would be interesting to test. Easy enough to swap in. I know two perfect people to do that testing. State-side that is. Lucario Runner and JustDSM.

Idk heres a snow gauge of Thursday. Thursday night/ Friday morning is also when i got power back.

I've only been in snow twice before, a forced school trip to Angel fire and a light snow in 2015? Never liked it and dont need to be in it but it was cool to see that the Tacoma can do well in conditions as bad as this. The driver mod is also the best mod as I also only driven in snow once but never ice luckily from my track experience everything was fine, even towed a 2 or 2.5 ton tandem axle generator. Tacoma towed it no problem. Now it needs to warm up so i can get back to modding and I'm going to make a winter list.

 

Good you got through the shit storm alright. Your track experience would have played a huge part in winter driving. Knowing how a vehicle behaves is one of the biggest factors in safe winter driving. Also proper all season or dedicated winter tires and throwing a bunch of weight over the back tires make a massive difference.

 

Yes it was quite the life experience to say the least. lol. I can do 110 days all day long but under 60? thats gonna be a no from me dawg. @Torspd can attest. But I'm making a list to be much better prepared. One trick I didn't know was putting silicon lube in the door lock and the door seal. So I ordered a can, I'm looking at these cheap diesel heaters on Amazon/ebay for the garage.

Looking at a much larger stand by generator. I wanted solar panels (still do) but maybe add a battery backup too?

Gonna install a fireplace now with a pizza over.
Looking at russain mre, cold stuff. More milwaukee batteries and headed jacket, lighters, candles, indoor kerosene, and some other off the grid things. When I redo my driveway and add a horseshoe driveway add heating elements and in the floors in the house. Still unpacking and planning. For the mods I think I'll add a remote start to my truck. My mom also wants to do a couple of things to her rav4 adventure to do better in low traction conditions as well.

 

Big plans, your gonna be prepared next time! It's smart to do and a lot of people never think of worst case scenarios. Candles, blankets, spare warm clothes, a shovel and some traction aids (sand, salt, traction boards) and a tow strap are good ideas for winter travel

Pizza oven fireplace would be tits! I haven't experienced car doors and locks freezing up too often but it does happen at times so I never do anything for doors and locks except struggle when it does happen lol. You guys probably get that coastal humidity that would make that worse. Where I'm living now the power grid rarely goes down and when it does its only for a couple hours. Where I grew up it was on the outskirts of a smaller town so power outages happened more often but even then we never dealt with generators or anything. Worst power outage was only a day or so.

Remote start and seat heaters are really nice to have when you deal with winter weather.

I've got a couple shitty electric heaters in my garage right now and am going to drop my trans soon to remove a crapped out hydraulic throwout bearing, probably going to still be warmly dressed when doing the work.

Yea the humidity plays a factor here. Like after I would drive the stuff would freeze.

Glad you're okay! The diesel heaters usually give off a bit of a smell. Way easier and more convenient to get various propane heaters and keep extra grill tanks or little map gas torch size tanks around since you'll likely have some anyways. Or along the same line if you really wanna go hard you can get a big 100gallon tank on the side of the house like you would for a propane stove and plumb in a big heater in the top corner of the garage as well. Imo you're lucky they didn't spread a shit ton of salt on the roads like they do up here, melts the snow away sorta but makes you go from sliding to grip randomly for a while until it all melts. Way more predictable with just snow as long as you have the driving skills and good tires

Ah yes I overlooked propane. I might look at those for like the camping gear. I think these coopers really handled the snow and ice well. I wasnt slipping and sliding where other cars and trucks were. Lsd and some more weight in the back would've been awesome too.
