Very bummed about this. Now Goodyear is going to make all of the Cooper tires in a hexagonal shape as well.

Cooper owns (owned) Dick Cepek, Mastercraft and Mickey Thompson as well as some other brands too which I guess are all going to be under Goodyear now.

May be a good thing as Goodyear has a bigger distribution network (a lot more shops carry Goodyear tires than Cooper tires). It's a bit more difficult to find Cooper tires in stock in my area, let alone any "20% off" deals. I'm running Duratracs now instead of STMaxx because I didn't want to wait 6 weeks for the STMaxx to arrive.

Welp, I can't say that I'm terribly happy about that. Seems like they are just buying the competition that they can afford to purchase. I don't see how this is better for consumers because it's unlikely that Goodyear will allow Cooper to compete in market share with any of their big sellers. This just seems like a way for them to strategically market which tires they make the most profit on by adjusting any competing tires from Cooper.

I honestly don't know that they have competing tires in the categories we care about, but they surely do compete in other tire markets.

Yeah, I never wanted to dish out the coin for Goodyear. Cooper used to have a factory in my area and many neighbors worked there (before it was shuttered and moved), so I've always leaned toward Coopers because they were on every cool car and truck in my town when I was a kid. I've run the same Cooper Adventure ATs on my truck for years.

My fear is Goodyear, who called Cooper "mid-tier" in the press release, would reduce the durability and availability of Cooper & their subsidiaries to drive people to Goodyear.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
The ST Maxx and others that are popular will prob go up in price. Right now I can get 4 - 255 80 17s for 1024$ CDN which is a good price for tires up here.

I believe they're the only truly American tire brands left so this is interesting.

Yeah, mid tier isn't exactly what comes to mind with Cooper for most people. I've always put them on par with Goodyear.

255/85r16 ST Maxx tires are $262 American Freedom bucks around me. They're currently more expensive than BFG KM3s in the same size.
The AT3 4S is such an amazing tire and most people don't give it the time of day because it looks like a work van tire.

That is how the Corperation’s work as they can’t earn your business outright with shitty Customer service and even worse quality that they just buy the company that’s has the business and throw it in the same Toliet as the rest of they’re turds.

I Agree 100% I’ve owned Coopers on a lot of different vehicles over the years and always held them in higher regards than Goodyear.
