It's common to have needle bearing noise from the front diff. check out the ECGS bushing fix.

Also quite common to have u-joints act up after a lift changes the angles on the rear. Although that's usually a noise or vibration all the time not just in 2wd.

I agree, its likely your needle bearing on the driver side of the front diff.

The "needle" pieces of the need bearing can sheer off and fall into the diff so it's best to swap it out for the ECGS bushing, though I have not heard of anyone's needle bearing wrecking the diff yet

Sorry, this sounds like you're worried about spending $60 on a part plus installation and or tools to do it, yet you spent dollars on a 3-inch lift. It's why mine will remain stock height. I don't want the headache that comes with a lift.

Yes, but from reading here any lift will aggravate it plus have other unforeseen costs associated with the lift. For my purposes, stock height suits me fine and by the way, I have been looking into the needle bearing replacement.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
And it would suit most folks who lifted their trucks, at least in terms of function.

Sometimes folks are overcome by their perception of style. :D
