The article made it seem like the two companies will remain in tact and they'll be taking advantage of the market which Cooper appeals to.

why is this for sure a bad thing? If they keep the engineering from Cooper and just integrate supply chains it could be a great thing

Goodyear will do to Cooper exactly what they did to Kelly: rebadge/remold some of their existing products at subpar quality (even by Goodyear standards) and market them as Cooper. Then, they'll make it harder to actually find the Coopers in stock until the brand is relegated to a "I didn't know they still made Coopers" status.

Goodyear is just eliminating competition so the price’s will go up as Cooper and they’re sub brands were taking up Goodyear’s market share and if not for fleet sales Goodyear wouldn’t be near as relevant as they are now with a ton of OEM trucks/SUV’s with Wrangler or Duratracks on them.

Correct. I operate a government fleet and was happy that the last tire contract had other options than the Duracraps, which is why I ordered a boat load of the ST Maxx.

Over GVWR and I keep adding more metal
Just ordered my ST Maxx today in 255 85 16.

Hope that I can find a replacement if/when I need to... wondering if I should have gotten a more popular size/brand combo

Coopers overall quality as a whole was declining, they lacked a proper standard tire and only really appealed to enthusiast.

Goodyear is similar but has a major lockdown on OEM equipment.

Both make terrible tires with exceptions.

I'm trying Yoko winters for the first time and really am enjoying them, better than the hankook studded I had prior.

My mom has Yoko H/T's on her rav. We are slowly becoming loyal to them.

I like my cooper at3's but they are wearing quickly and have uneven wear. Not super impressed.

They'll also take the good stuff from all of Cooper's rubber compounds and other tire tech and apply it to their Goodyear tires while letting innovation stagnate on the Cooper side. Then Goodyear will rename the tech and act like it's some new fantastic thing they created while selling off Cooper's tooling and assets slowly. Try to find Kelly Safari TSR tires for a reasonable price, I'd like to run them, but dang.
