What are you using for the rear flap to tailgate? Velcro?

I'm using the velcro strips on the tailgate but I think the dirt gets in from the sides of my tailgate

Do you have those rails adjusted correctly? There's two phillips heads at the end (tailgate side) that let you adjust how far back the flap goes. Slides in and out.

Yeah same here, Velcro. Could be getting in through the tailgate. If it’s really silty or some long dry dirt road it will still get in, but obviously not like just having an open bed. Nature of the beast I guess.

I have the rails set so that the rear flap fits flush with the tailgate. I think the issue is the actual tailgate needs a seal because water and dirt gets in way to easily on the sides.

Dust is dust... I haven't figured out how to keep 100% of that out yet, water though, I've only noticed coming from the straps after they become saturated in the rain.

Does the rear flap sit on top of your tailgate? Do you have a pic?

And I get a little water in the front two corners usually when highway drying in heavy rain.

I've never had any issues with water leakage after using the included sealant that came with my topper. I just applied it to all of the inside seams and it works great.

Magnets... see my post. Using neodymium magnets (not pictured, I started with cheaper ceramic ones and then upgraded to the stronger neodymium), the flap seals really well against the tailgate, opens easily when dropping the tailgate, and no adhesive on the tailgate.

I would go nuts having to undo-redo Velcro every time I access the bed.

Mine is setup the same way also. Hmm, could be your tailgate but these do allow more dirt and dust in.

Did you put anything on the tailgate to prevent the flap and/or magnets from marring the paint?

I put some clear bra back there, and also made little magnet "pockets" so it's the loop portion of velcro touching the clear bra.

I mounted my rails a bit further forward towards the cab than the directions mentioned, and my rear window sits flush with top of the tailgate. I haven't noticed any flapping or any gaps when driving at highway speeds, but I do have some visible gaps around the tailgate itself i need to seal up. tailgate (2).jpg

No. Just the neoprene that they’re sandwiched in. Hasn’t marred or left any marks after two plus years now.

I ordered a couple seals off of Amazon that work great. It has all but eliminated the cold air drafting in the tailgate at night, and reduced (not eliminated) the dust while wheeling. Sealed the sides and bottom of the tailgate.

For the flap I've got a long strip of magnet glued to a long strip if velcro. The velcro attaches to the velcro on the flap, and the magnet holds it closed the length of the bed. Not sure of this does anything for the dust, but at least i don't have to endure the loud sshhhhhhhh when I pull apart the velcro anytime I need in the bed.
