Oil Catch Can & Aux Fuse Box Install

I got one in all vehicles (including Tacoma) off Amazon for $30 each.

I haven't been running catch cans for 30 years and I can say I've never had an issue. Even on turbo cars. It's snake oil, Benny. Nowadays, engines are pretty good at eating their own shit.

 

Lol, exactly its a Tacoma and Toyota and every other manufacture has been running without them forever. For race applications or specific high stress applications then it might be applicable. Maybe

 

Here is mine, anodized Red...kinda matching the truck. Yes ,$30 (Amazon, generic) but I upgraded the hoses. And yes, it does trap gunk!

With dual injectors the engine is designed to clean itself. I would think water build up in the winter is just from condensation from heating/cooling, but hey as long as we are all happy Tacoma owners who cares!

 

Pump your brakes, guys. Everybody knows carbon buildup is probably not a problem and engines are designed to be self cleaning and the 2GR-FKS selectively uses direct and port injection yada, yada. But I just don't want oil in my intake. Simple as that. You're not going to convince me or anybody else otherwise. This thread is about catch can mounting locations, if you're here trying to debunk it, then you've come to the wrong place.

Boy, add this to the long list of stuff I had no idea I needed!

 

High-Level. The 3.5L when placed at extreme angles, inclines, declines etc, begins to dump oil through the PCV into cylinders 5/6. In minor situations you burn oil and blow out a lot of smoke, in major situations the engine connecting rods fail resulting in a blown engine. The catch can will pick up the additional oil release preventing it from spilling back in.

EDIT: This failure has been noted in DDs and stock vehicles as well but in either case oil intrusion seems to come in from the PCV and sits in cylinder 6

 

How about mine at 30k, Pre-throttle body?

 

Getting a lot of blow by. Might wants throw a sock in there or some new rings

And all the catch cans shown here won't change that one bit... But you already knew that.

 

Catch cans or not, what's amazing is why anybody would care if someone put one on or not.

 

This "argument" is up there with K&N air filters...some get irritated. I do both...catch can and K&N...works for me

 

Not sure if you are trolling or not but a catch can will definitely help this, by trapping it in the can rather than it blowing through back into the intake. I’ve seen it first hand with mine.
