I'm so pissed

I just smashed the front of my taco into a tree. The front bumper, hood, grill are destroyed. The radiator is also at the very least, punctured as coolant (pink stuff) is leaking all over the place. I feel like such an idiot. Luckily, I was close to home so I was able to make it back quickly but what kind of cost am I looking at to get it fixed?

My brother did the same but he hit me lucky for him it was me but you probably need condensor that $200, radiator $300 ,hood $500 ,fender $200each ,grill $50 front bumper $200 or 300 but we didn't take it to a shop though we fixed our selves if you do take it to a shop labor is guna cost a lot more than the hood

That's just wrong that a low speed crash can do $6k in damage. I remember the good old days when my wife got into a low speed collision in the 86 4Runner. Cost to repair? $220 for a new tube bumper because everything else survived. Yeah yeah I get "crumple zones". But geez a truck shouldn't crush like a friggen beer can. How about at least restoring some decent bumpers on these things?

 

^^^ dont mean to interfear with a possible sale, but this could be the perfect time for some after market off road bumpers sitashi grill ect...

 

$2400 from when i hit a deer, and that was for only a bumper, headlight, grill, and fender repair

 

the truck is the least of your problems, at least you're alive... count your blessings!

 

Easy math...$500. The ins. deductible beats the hell out of 7k...even if your rate goes up a bit.

 

Wow, sorry to hear that! Post some pics, it may not be too bad. It sounds like it's drivable with a new radiator. If all that is damaged is the grill, bumper, hood, and radiator, I would guess no more than $2K even with aftermarket bumper and grill. Shouldn't be too bad to find a used color matched hood, not like you are replacing the hard to find "sport" hood. GL.

OP - sucks man. Sorry you had the accident. If it's out of pocket when replacing the bumper you might want to look around for a nice aftermarket bumper. Good luck.

 

I fix my truck with 1100 on parts plues paint. Complete bumper 200 shipped , radiator 75.00 . condenser 89.00, radiator support 120.00 , etc

 

My insurance paid about 9k for all the body work ahead of the firewall. Condensor, radiator, trans cooler, and frame caps

 

$500 is what I paid for my black ice accident.
Same damage as OP minuse radiator & hood. Both headlights, grill, bumper covers misc other things prep & paint. $2400 at dealer.

I did not notice much change in my insurance rate from usaa

I would definiately find an aftermarket radiator. Mine was replaced under warranty and the oem part was like $500

 

Read carefully:

Step 1 - Call your insurance company and file a claim
Step 2 - Take the truck to a HIGH END body/repair shop
Step 3 - Have the insurance company meet you at the shop to review the damage and their super high repair estimate
Step 4 - Order a bunch of cool aftermarket and OEM parts (new grill, OEM scooped hood, off road bumper, fog lights, etc). Have all parts painted at the body shop and reinstalled. Take the bumper, fogs, etc... home and install them yourself.

You'll likely come out about even (including the deductible if it's not too high) or end up with a little cash in your pocket and a better truck. The high end body shops quote a high price for labor, materials, etc... The higher the quote, the larger the check from your insurance company to cover the new OEM and aftermarket parts.

I've done this twice in my life. It's 100% legal and it works.
