Add-a-Leaf - TRD Pro

Hey all -

I've been doing a ton of research on this topic, however, I haven't been able to find the correct answer.

I have about 500 pounds that rides in my truck bed (decked system, topper). I put on sumosprings, but I'm thinking that an add-a-leaf might be a better option for the back. I'm currently about dead level, but worried that I'm approaching "bro-lean" status.

What's the best option for an add-a-leaf for a TRD pro? I'm not looking for any lift, but to get back the 1"-1.5" I lost with the added weight in the back to get back to my "stock" ride height. I don't want to mess with the stock suspension yet.... maybe down the road, but not yet! I've thought about airbags, but it seems kinda pointless to have them in there with a consistent load on the springs, and I'm thinking the add a leaf might be a better way to go considering how soft the tacos are from the factory.

AAL will work or a leaf pack if your down to change out your leafs. If not IMO aal will bring it back up 1.5”. So you will have a little rake which is good. No bro lean. Also AAL WILL ride better with weight. Just my 2cents. Aal cost is cheap enough. Plus labor you can easily do it.
Deaver AAL 1.5”-2” of lift.

 

I'm in the exact same place you are. 2018 TRD Pro with about 600# constant load (ARE CH-XD, Decked drawers, and a load of tools). I live in a small house in San Diego and don't have room to store all my stuff when I'm not on travelling. I am still in the middle of the process, but my solution is to create my own add a leaf using a spare Pro leaf pack. I purchased two TRD Pro leaf packs for $100 removed after only 100 miles. I'm using the main leaf from each pack cut to size. If required, I'll use another leaf cut to size, but I think one should get me back to where I want plus increase the load carrying capacity as well. I'm hoping this method will keep the spring rates similar and produce the best all around ride.

Or it'll go to shit and won't work at all!

This is the go-to for Tacoma. I would use an add-a-leaf for 500-1000lbs like a topper or tool tray.

I don’t see it noted as “progressive” on the icon site, but I’m assuming it’s the same set. Appreciate the help and heads up!!

Will do...it has been a chore. Who knew trying to drill through sprung steel would be so difficult... Took a few drill bits, a lot of oil, and about 8+ hours of of my life spread over 2 weeks. Got the anti-friction pads installed a couple weeks ago, just gotta find time to install the leafs. Been super busy at work, hoping to have this weekend off!

 

Can the TRD PRO rear shocks handle the extra 1.5” extended length?

 

The problem I find with add a leaf’s is that you don’t know exactly what lift you’re getting until you install them

 

Any updates on this I have slight bro lean with my RTT and racks installed. I was thinking a AAL to suffice for a year or 2 just to get use out of the trd pro fox suspension
