By the sounds of things the 2Lo kit sounds like the better route, just the fact its pnp alone is pretty great, is there a high risk of breaking expensive stuff doing the FJ tc?

I totally agree, AND I have a 2lo kit with optional left of wheel in dash switch I am willing to trade for a used FJ auto Tcase in good condition. Just because I am so community minded.

I would 100% do the FJ t case! I've been passively looking for one... more or less just waiting for one to land in my garage more than anything.

    I was born in '93 :D

I already miss the Supra, but where I had the truck apart for almost 2 months, I wouldn't have had room for it. Maybe someday I'll end up with another! Or an IS300 :D

Sliders are all painted / dried. Just need to muster up the motivation to install them in the cold, some days I'm such a wuss!

on the bumper side, I bought a Benzomatic TS8000 torch. Holly Poop! sucker gets things hot! ( came with some MAP Pro gas, but youtube showed me it works *almost* as good with regular propane )
I bent some 1/4" thick steel to 90*. I plan on pre-bending all my stuff to what the instructions say, then doing the fit-up. Fingers crossed its all close enough, and I can start tacking things on the weekend.

For some reason the "semi-gloss" POR15 wasn't so semi.....
oh well, Run what ya brung!

I stumbled upon them after looking at all the different fab shops out there now lol. They're aluminum so I won't have to worry about the salt and they're strong enough to hi-lift off. I'm thinking about going with Warn for the winch but nothings decided yet.

    not that i've used it,
but I bought my winch from Costco, Runva 11 XP-s.
good price, synthetic rope, and remote / wireless controls. Just food for thought.

There might be a bit of a risk shifting into 4wd depending on the route you go ( but honestly i don't know)

@TacoMitch93 @Canoehead and I were talking a bit more about this today.

so if i got it right there are 4 configs you could run

    1) keep the front actuator, and manually engage it via a separate switch
    2) swap in the passenger side non ADD fJ axle tube and stubb shaft
    3) remove the front actuator and slide over the collar then put a blocking plate over the hole the actuator left ( ive seen some peeps actually weld the collar in place )
    4) buying just the FJ stubb shaft and replacing the tacoma stubb shaft / collar and put on the blocking plate

#1 is the most dangerous IMO ( but not really ) you could get the timing backwards. I forget if you need to engage the front actuator BEFORE shifting the T-case into 4wd, or after....

From what I read if you get it wrong there is a loud clunk. I cant imagine that clunking is too good if you do it too often.

Option 2 would be my preferred setup.
Option 3 is almost “free” and achieves the same result as option 2
Option 4 would be... well IDK... its sort of 1/2 option 2 and 1/2 option 3.

i looked into buying the stubb shaft and the non ADD tube from toyotapartsdirect.ca but they were really expensive. $240 for one piece and $250 for the other. So new stubb shaft & Tube is out of the question.

Its almost time for me to put up or shut up! Lol
