How was the rest of the drive? We're going to be doing the same to go pick up our Drifter this weekend.

Billings to Bozeman was terrible from 7-11 Friday night lol. Bozeman to ennis wasn’t too bad. Once we got into Idaho roads were clear. No icy spots in Idaho. Things could have changed though.

Thanks, that's good to hear. The border passes are really what I've been most worried about, especially passing through Truckee since we'll get there in the evening.

Not sure what you're out there for or how long, but there is a meet on Monday at Prairie City.

Truckee was clear. There was like 3 wet spots on 80. Forgot how fast people drive around here. It’s ridiculous. I would go but We’re tentatively leaving Thursday before the rain comes in. And I didn’t bring my rig. Brought the Yukon.

Yeah, it's like when you cross the border everyone cranks up the speed and general assholiness until they get 3 lanes. Always hated it.

Safe travels on your way back home.

Interesting is a great way to describe that stretch of interstate in the winter lol.

We used to camp up at Bowman all the time but it got overrun and we stopped going :(I remember having the lake entirely to ourselves on occasion. So beautiful and peaceful. If they hadn't closed access for the winter we would have camped out there before heading back.

Bowmans one of my favorite places. Over run with people now though. There was a pretty bad wash on the road that kept all the little rigs out for about a year or so.

Anyone have an idea how long it takes to do Boulder Rd? Looking at plugging it into a trip this summer, don't think we'd be hitting Big Timber til about 2 though and would probably try to grab a quick bite there. Just want to make sure we can get to the end easily and set up camp.

It's pretty washboarded - they did widen some of the road and replaced a couple of the bridges 2 years ago so that helps. Last time I had Runner up there it was over two hours from the end of the pavement at Natural Bridge Falls to the end of the "maintained" road. The trail will take you another couple hours assuming its in no worse shape than I remember from 2017 when I was on it last and you dont get stuck or meet any one coming down.

The road to the trail is long..way longer that you think it will be.

But its easy and you can move at a good clip till the trail. Assuming you're wanting to do the trail..

The trail is easy, has gotten more rocky in spots with use over the years but nothing bad. Worst bits are the ATVer and UTVer going off trail and making lots of mud hole in the wilderness area. I'd go, i don't think it'll be open much longer. At least not all the way to the lake.

Helps to air down when you get to Natural Bridge. Or you'll go a lot slower.

Flew into Bozeman yesterday. Drove down to west Yellowstone. I think every other vehicle I passed was a Tacoma. If I saw any of you....

PS, what little bit I’ve seen of this state is amazing and I’m incredible jealous.
