    Brobar.

Functional roll bars are typically in the passenger compartment. The purpose is to prevent crushing of the passenger compartment.

Mounted on the bed, behind the cab will allow the front of the cab to be crushed in a roll-over event. To understand the extent of the damage, imagine a straight line from the top of the grill to the top of the bar. Above that is likely to be in the crush zone.

Based on the pic......most of the cab would be pancaked.

If it keeps the driver from being crushed when the truck rolls over, then I'd call it a roll bar. If it's some random stuff attached to a truck because someone think it looks cool, I'd call it a sport bar.

They used to be roll bars, but with the addition of flimsy metal bars that are there 100% for decoration they had to start calling them sport bars because all they do is add a sporty look.

    Bad ass truck btw.

That is a light bar. Used to be anyway, I think. Then they started making bars of lights. I don't know what you call it. Marty Bar. That's it, it's a Marty Bar.

If it's not the right material, welded to the frame properly and tested, it can't be legally called a roll bar by the manufacturer.

Because that sets performance expectations in a crash setting. And we all know how lawyers love it when your expectations aren't met.

Style bar is a pretty common term for such things in the sports car world.

But you asked what *I'd* call it.......... The phrase that comes to mind, which also includes the side & hitch steps is 'not for me'.

Nope. Below is a Headache Rack. The purpose is to prevent loads from penetrating the cab during a sudden stop. Common on semis hauling pipe or structural steel or bar.
