That thing's f'in sweet! And then there's me - precook everything and vacuum seal it, chuck it in a cast iron over a fire. Otherwise, you're eating it cold  I go for a spartan meal setup when I'm traveling. I'm actually even looking to downsize my cooler. I have an ozark trails 52QT right now and I'm looking to downsize to the 26 instead. I've seen a few videos on youtube of people putting drain plugs on them, so at that point I'm basically sold. Might try to actually use the drain setup off the 52qt so that it's "normal". It doesn't have a runoff cutout like the 52. BUT when it's just me, the 52 is mostly all ice and like, 2 sandwiches. It's nice when I have 4 people and a bunch of beers but, that's very infrequent at best.

I'll probably get the 26 and keep the 52 for now, but realistically I'll be pitching it after this summer if I don't use it a lot.

I like the pre-cook or par-cook method too. It's much easier and i'd rather spend my time chilling than being instafabulous. I usually just bring my stove, a cast iron skillet, and my jetboil.

That cook setup is pretty dope though.

Max tow was only available on the 3.5. It probably has the regular tow package.

My 3.5 has regular tow and all the extra options of max tow added separately. It's stupid and only inflated the price.

That's right, I remember that you need the 3.5EB for the max tow. I may tow a lot but I in no way need max tow, everything I tow is light.

I don't have the stove setup yet, but I might soon. I want to get a way to secure my grill propane tanks in the bed, mostly to be overkill for driving 2 miles down the road to get the tanks filled for cooking. If I'm doing that, might as well do that and set up a stove next to it, 20# tank would definitely get stuff cooking on the tailgate! We'll see how this year goes, so far I've been happy just using a campfire to cook over :notsure: they're pretty cheap, as long as the fittings work for my tank I might look into it.

Since I've been camping on the ice and need to cook in the house/tent I learned that pretty much everything I need to cook should be something I can do with hot water. No frying burgers unless it's a beauty day and can do it outside on the grill. No bacon or sausage or god forbid fish fried in the tent or it will smell like that for about a year.

My favorite is omelets in a bag. I make that for breakfast AND dinner a lot!

That's my usual camp breakfast. I do a vacuum bag filled with eggs potatoes and meat of some sort. Sometimes bacon, sometimes sausage, sometimes corned beef hash from a can (don't add potatoes if I do that). Cook it all ahead of time, vacuum bag it. I will cut them open and cook them over a skillet in the AM.

Did breakfast burritos once, the morning cooking of those wasn't as good as I was hoping for. And ultimately, when I'm cooking 12 meals for the next 4 days, stuffing it all in a vacuum bag instead of in a tortilla etc is less work.

But that said since I am doing it over a campfire and in freezer bags I could look at sous vide methods instead. Might just do that, actually.....

If anyone is looking for a Baofeng handheld and looking to be a bit more intricate than just the HT, this is a pretty good deal. The UV5R is about 35 on its own. Add one of the 10$ mag mount antennas and this is a bitchin' setup. (This is what I will have, basically. I ordered the add ons but not a second radio recently, plus an external mag mount antenna. Overkill, but it's gonna be COOL!)

That's not the case anymore although I'm not sure when it changed. You can get max tow with the 5.0 now. Kills me that 'max tow' doesn't come with tow mirrors or the brake controller.

Yeah, it seems like spec-ing the Max Tow package should include tow mirrors, brake controller, big fuel tank, and maybe even that backy-uppy knob (whatever they call it).

Yeah I just boil a pot of water and use a Ziplock bag- no precooking necessary. Crack 3 eggs in it, add cheese, some veggies, meat if you like (that would have to be precooked or the microwave bacon works well), shake it a little, take all the air out and boil for 5 or 6 minutes. Fresh omelet! Sorta poor mans or lazy mans Sous Vide.

I'm perfectly fine with the knob thing being an option. Personally, I think it's ridiculous, if you're going to move a trailer with any sort of regularity, you ought to know how to back it up. Before people jump on me for saying that, it's not a quick thing, you have to set up the truck and trailer ahead of time so it's not something you can just hook on to and use the knob. I think it's just another system that allows people to be complacent with their vehicles and not pay attention. /rant Tow mirrors, I'm on the fence with. I want them but I can see people wanting regular mirrors, maybe if you only haul a boat or flat deck trailer. The big fuel tank is a given, the brake controller should be an automatic and it's stupid that it's not.

It changed for 2021. For 2020, it came with the brake controller:

    upload_2021-2-23_11-42-3.jpg

For 2021, it is 5.0, 3.5, or diesel, but it still comes with the brake controller:
    upload_2021-2-23_11-43-41.jpg

The mirrors used to come with max tow, and Ford found dealers were avoiding ordering trucks with it for that reason. Apparently many customers don't like the big tow mirrors. So, it no longer has tow mirrors but dealers didn't get the memo and still order trucks like mine with regular tow but every option from max tow added as well.

    Yes but knob.

I don't disagree about people learning to put their trailer where they want it, but knob.

I always wanted to setup a log splitter with the backup assist and see if the truck could do it. Backing those up is impossible when you can't even see the thing and it's that short!

Ah, I know why now, I was trying to build a f150 with the 7kw generator and it wouldn't let me have the hybrid option with the max tow, only regular tow which requires the addition of the brake controller.

Yeah, regular tow doesn't come with it and it's stupid. It's also almost the same price as max tow and max tow gives you so much more.
