Gas pedal jiggles after going over speed bumps?

Weirdest thing has happened two-three times now. I have a 2016 4x4 sport and the easiest way to describe it is if i hit a weird angle on a speed bump going slow i can feel the gas pedal actually move and creak quite violently. Any advice on where to start looking into this issue? I was thinking about balancing the tires. Quick google search tells me to look into the bushings but no clue on what to look for or how to gauge if theres an issue.

 

Does it vibrate while you're accelerating? Does this happen in 4WD too?

Beginning to think ones brains are jiggling too much over speed bumps.

 

yes in 4wd and no it doesnt vibrate. Its almost like an aftershock if that makes sense. Feels like the axles shaking it but that cant be it as theres no connection between the two. Im stumped.

 

The throttle is just a wired sensor attached to the cab floor with two fasteners. You can check that they are snug.

If it is not the throttle itself, the suspension can be a bit jiggly when there is no weight in the bed, esp the Sports. Uneven bumps were just harsh for me until I removed the sway bar. It has been gone for 40k now and it is heaven. The perfect suspension for me on and off road. Still huckable in corners.

Sources of noise that I have dealt with were:

-- The leaf spring pads. They would squeak after an automatic car wash or wheeling. Jacking each side individually in front of the front leaf mount allowed me to easily separate the leafs at the pads and spray in some dry lube. After a while, the noise has not come back.

-- The body mounts. Mine settled in and started squeaking like the leafs. I snugged them up to the torque setting in the Service Manual and they have been silent since. I was able to easily get to the rear four. The front two require some disassembly up front. I didn't bother with those, but other folks have had recurring issues there.​

 

Any mods done to the truck? I find these trucks (like most) tend to transmit a lot of vibrations through the floor. So you might be feeling something entirely different and thinking its the pedal. That being said, you can quickly check the bolts holding the pedal assembly like @tonered said

 

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. When the truck is parked and off, have you inspected the gas pedal by hand? Does it feel loose or does it move in an unintended direction?

 

Not at all. And ive hit some potholes at a high speed with no issues. Its a very specific angle on slow speed bumps that causes it which has me baffled.

 

Hmm ill give the above a go! Not to be dumb but are there any downsides to removing the sway bar? What is its intended purpose?

The sway bar delete will give more body roll. IMHO, the Sport with the SBD feels like a stock OR. It doesn't take long to pull and is easy to do. Give it a test drive. It really get rid of the harshness.

If you don't like it, slap it back on. I've hit corners at twice the posted speed and have had some good swerves with nothing more than a bit more roll.
