For those who have experience in the ordering process, have you been able to get some form of price guarantee? So that when your vehicle comes in a few months you are still paying the price you saw when ordering? It's my first new vehicle so I'm trying to cover the bases

Yep. I have my bill of sale in front of me and I confirmed with the finance guy that the only difference between it and the final amount will be the difference between my what I owed on my trade in when I ordered the truck and what I owe when I take possession.

All the details should be written in a contract. Anything verbal is just hot air.

NO contract = NO deal. Walk away.

I got a written bill of sale for the total otd faxed to me from the dealer i spoke with. Any dealer option i wanted installed beyond that would be parts and labor/tax. They took my visa credit card, but put it on hold...they wouldn't put it through unless i didn't bring a check for the total as agreed. The real paperwork started when i arrived to pick up the truck. I swear i had writers cramp from signing my name on so many forms.

I didnt quite order, but put a deposit on a truck that was in route. I had a contract and it was all above board. I even paid less than the MSRP.

as long as they have the vin they can write up a p&s for you to sale. if they don't have the vin, they should still be able to put most of the p&s together for you to sign

When I ordered my new Taco last May (Ordered in May, received in Aug.) after I put my $500 deposit down, the sales price was locked.
Both sides (Me & Dealer) signed and set in stone. You should be OK.

When I put down a deposit (refundable) on my new Tacoma, the final price was stipulated to be MSRP at the time of delivery, minus any rebates at the time of delivery. I was OK with that, because my particular wants (an Access Cab manual transmission in Army Green) were going to be hard to get. As it turned out, the factory added LED headlights, which the dealer threw in for free.

Imo, anyone paying msrp is getting hosed. Just about all dealers will sell 2-3k below msrp. Agreed its harder to get lower than that when ordering a taco when i tried.
