I've also learned to look out for race tracks, we have a Speedway about 12 miles from us and they do events on the weekends that go until about 10pm. At night, you can hear those cars loud and clear from 10+ miles away.

They're shutting one of ours down. They're gonna regret that cause street shut downs for racing are gonna become a thing now.

Yup, I think CA has learned that lesson too. Better to keep the race tracks open because it keeps them off the street (well, not entirely but at least it helps).

We have the Sonoma Raceway up here, unfortunately none of the vehicles I own are fast enough. Maybe the Tacoma, if it fell out of a cargo plane and reached terminal velocity.

Its getting tough to find a quiet spot anymore. So much so that my favorite campsites are the ones where I can't hear a single human generated noise.

yeah lucky for us the mountains are nearby and once you get up in elevation the noise of the city disappears. But, the light pollution doesn't so that sucks. Have to head to the desert or east to the more remote mountains to get away from that.

Craziest night sky I've ever seen was at the base of the summit of Mt. Whitney at about 12k feet at night. Would've liked to see it from the actual summit but doing that at night would be suicide lol.

I slipped on a metal spiral staircase covered in snow and wedged the inside of my knee under the rail with my foot wedged into the back of a step

Oh yeah, thats just a knee effusion from the fall injury. Ice, tylenol and motrin, they can give a steroid shot too if comfortable enough but you should be fine. MRI youll need to go thru ur ortho doc, UC's are very limited in their abilities.
