That's my thinking. Why buy a truck and then convert it to a SUV? I do like the newer vans that have come out in recent years, you can actually stand up in them. I wish they had been available in my working years!

The inch of snow we were forecast yesterday turned out to be 4 heavy inches. One of my neighbors' snowblowers are both in the shop after blowing up in the big storm a few weeks ago, so I did our place and their place. I'm sore and tired. But beer, so not complaining.

    I am *so* over winter.

    Evening all:
I never did like caps until I got one, must be an old guy thing! :D
I have a tilt trailer to haul it, but it would be a royal PITB to dig it out to be able to use it.

Good morning everyone. We got 4" of snow yesterday - wet, heavy heart-attack stuff. Another 1 to 3" predicted for today. Are we having fun, yet? I have more snow piled up here than I can ever remember since we moved back in 2004.

On top of it all, our boiler decided to sh*t the bed yesterday. We have radiant in floor heat so the boiler does it all - heat and hot water. Luckily, I noticed it early and got a call into the plumber who services Weil-McClain in our area....and he called me right back. Seriously. It happened. Several times. After talking through the issues, I restarted it and it fired. Ran until water temp was up to proper level but then wouldn't restart the burner to reheat. The good news is that I've been able to do that several times through the night. Repair guy is scheduled to be here today.

    Stay safe....and warm!!

Absolutely heart attack snow...wet and heavy ! We also had 4".
Here's hoping that the plumber shows up for you today.

So here's what went on yesterday.
My wife and I were just waiting for the snow to stop.
It stopped around 3pm. I went out the kitchen door to the deck...grabbed a shovel...I took 1 shovelful and right there and then I decided to get the snow blower.
As I started I see my neighbors oldest son shoveling our front sidewalk...cool!!
So I approached him and gave him $40.
Hey it was worth it to me...lol.
Also asked him if he was going to cut my lawn this summer...he said yes...yay me!!
He also told me that he's going to try to get at Wegmans this summer...he told me that they offer between 1k and 5k in college scholarship $...but in order to be eligible for that you need to meet certain criteria.
That's pretty cool, I didn't realize that they did that.

Good Morning folks. It sure has been one heck of a winter for many folks. I consider myself lucky with being down in Florida where there is no snow .

Sorry to hear about the boiler issue Mark. Fortunately the plumber is available and he can get you going full time again without much trouble. Itms that things we rely on always find a way to breakdown at the most inopportune time. Stay warm and be safe.

He sounds like a special guy Harry. Kids today don't or should I say aren't that ambitious . He has a goal and he knows what to do to get there :fingerscrossed:. Best of luck to him.
Have a great day folks and be safe and as always be careful.

WOW, my worst nightmare is the boiler going out then not finding anyone to help. How old was that boiler? Ours is 16 years old and resembles a Dr. Seuss contraption, I have been researching what unit to go for when it happens plus a unit that will eliminate the standard flue. Of course it will fail during a maximum need time not when we just need hot water.

Let us know how it works out, there are so many systems now that are much more efficient.

Have a great day everyone - off to Costco, warm again today then snow starts tomorrow afternoon through Thursday. PA folks you can send all that snow our way. CO Springs is above their snow for the season while we are still 20-30% below ours - the banana belt syndrome this year.

The boiler is 16 years old. I'd had nightmares getting the guy that installed the system when we built to come service it - called every year, never called back. Luckily, there is another plumber locally who installs/services Weil-McLain systems. I called them yesterday morning after waiting an hour for the regular guy to call back. The owner returned my call within 3 minutes, walked me through restart and got an idea of what was wrong. Called back several times during the day to make sure it was still limping along - had to restart it every 4 hours or so. Put us on the list first thing this morning - here and repaired the system. It needed a new control panel, relief valve and expansion tank.

I've been really happy with the Weil-McLain system - boiler, controls for the radiant heat system and the water heater are all W-M. Gold Series.

And, I'm really happy with the plumber, too.

    Morning folks

glad your heat is up and running again Mark. Just finished some snow clean up. Nothing much but a inch here and there was starting to add up. Already 35* so wanted to get at it before it refroze.
From-30 to 40* that 70 degree swing sure feels good. Took a hit on the windshield Saturday and had a couple chips from it. Safelite dude has been here and gone. Fixed for $100.00 and change.
    Time for breakfast.

    Cheers

I have had 8 or 10 pickups since my early 40s. Put a shell on every one. It is not just an old guy thing. I also have a couple of trailers for carrying large things.

Carols jeep has a tweetie bird theme. Well 16 year old tweetie faded and cracked enough to start seeing the spare tire. By chance I found another one. Same thing. Here’s to another 16 years..

I wish I understood how the Texas grid is regulated better. Seems like a good thing on paper but when it failed it sure did suck for a lot of people.

Just because it is non profit does not mean it makes no money. The NFL was a non-Profit till 2015. The more you figure out politicians the more used car salesman start to look good.

    Afternoon all:

    Ariens deluxe 28 SHO.
Got it home in my buddies snowmobile trailer, took the trailer back and came home and went to work, only ran out of gas one time!
Little hard using it after the snow being on the ground for awhile, plus cutting through where my neighbor blew the snow, it did its job though and can't wait to try it out in fresh snow!:rolleyes:

Got the second Moderna covid shot today.. sort of a non-event. No other customers in the pharmacy. I thought it might be busier.. even brought a folding chair for the wife. They had 10 chairs this time.. all empty. OK, so that's over, I hope.:D
We went shopping after, spent a little real folding money in an actual store, felt goood.

Good choice! Our Honda is a 28" cut, fits into places a bigger machine would not which is a plus for us. I have an Ariens mower, 2 years old at this point, solid machine with only 1 or 2 questionable engineering decisions. Hopefully you don't find any of those on your blower.

You will like the Ariens snow blower. It is a good machine. Be sure you lower the shoes on the front to get closer to the ground. At the lowest level you will have approx. 1/2" left which isn't too bad. Have fun with your new play toy.

A little something every chance we get.
I love wasting time semi-constructively! Chore list done, so it's  time.
Almost emptied one of my crates, and some dealer frames didn't make the cut after saving them for years!

More to go, but a great rainy day project, always more cleaning and sorting to do....

And this just in, got an email when I came in - Austin Public Health sent me my appointment for 4:00 PM tomorrow, in mid-Austin. Won't love the wait, or the traffic, but I'm going. My option is to not show up, and they will let me know when I can try again. I'll take the hassle over the suspense!
