Thanks for an awesome Job Gio I'm still getting use to it and it does feel like the 4.0 woke up..I run 295-70-17 Geolander MTs and b4 the gears it felt sluggish. After the Gears it feels more alive. Better response when on the gas pedal and just an all around better feel driving it. I'll update after a few tanks of gas if anything changes. But so far I'm happy with the results!

Anyone with stockish tires/gears and your basic build have some long term report to give? I haven't noticed any lack of performance, I just figure I would throw these in when I tackle the valve cover gaskets.

@DiamondW is fairly stock I believe. His initial thoughts are on page 2. Maybe he can weigh in with his long term thoughts but I see he hasn't logged in recently.

Already ordered and plan to do the gaskets, just looking for long term experience from a similar setup

It’ll only make it better no matter what mods you have on the truck (aside from a turbo or aftermarket cams). I’ve had mine in for a year now. For how cheap they are they should be high on the list. I mean how much do folks pay for pointless “cold” air intakes!?

Permatex ultra black available all over the place, cheaper than FIPG, is made for oil, and has better temp ratings than FIPG. The choice between the two for me was a no brainer.

I don’t get why everyone keeps bitching about the price of the FPIG. I paid $12 online and permatex ultra black is $8.50. Is that $3.50 really breaking people’s bank?

I avoid Amazon for OEM parts these days. There’s so much counterfeit stuff on there coming from China I just don’t trust it anymore for truck parts.

I haven’t received any fake OEM Toyota stuff but still feel better ordering from one of the many dealers that offer heavily discounted parts online.

It’s going to be one of those things that when your done your gonna wish you had done it sooner and wonder why the hell it didn’t come from the factory like this. No different if your a manual and delete the accumulator, tune, put the throttle response where it should be and get the rev hang out. It’s little things that add up. After awhile it just feels normal. I’ve driven a couple of my buddies stock trucks lately and am quickly reminded though.

I'm just not fully understanding, the bog and lag everyone here is talking about. I don't notice anything that I attribute to the same thing. Other people that have ridden with me say my truck is a racecar compared to their slow pig. Could it be my truck runs differently, or I just drive differently and the computer learned and tuned accordingly?

I'm still gonna do it because valve cover gaskets need done, just trying to understand.

Going through thread to prep for future install and noticed these...
mine have no bezel on front OR rear... should I be concerned that this'll make my install harder? already somewhat apprehensive as i'm not an engine guy

You can still do the install without a bevel. It's just a super tight fit and the bevel helped line up the gear.

Newer ones don't have the bevel intentionally. This allows for a stronger than stock keyway as there is more material and allows me to keep cost down as the small bevel added about 30% more machining time. They still go in though so don't sweat the install. Might add 2 minutes to install max

Hey @mightytacoman, I think this will be a good 100,000 mile gift for my truck. This will be my first engine mod on this truck! :bananadance:

I’ll be sending you a PM shortly to get this going.

    Thanks!
