What are the major differences between V14 and V15, specifically in regards to flashing TSB updates?

There is no difference. As long as any version of TS is installed, the CUWs will be executable. I think that only thing that I really noticed is that the battery voltage requirements are set higher? I don't recall seeing that prompt in TS V12. In V14, it was something like 11.8v. In V15, it requires 12.0v.

V15 is needed for 2021 Tacos that want to connect to the vehicle and Customize, diagnose, etc.

did it fail when applying a TSB? Or flashing a tune? Not sure exactly what you did.

A handful of people have had soft bricks, some more painful than others.

Sometimes a combination of power cycle, clear dtc, disconnect battery may get it to take a flash (in no particular order)

otherwise it requires a bench flash to recover

Details on the hardware and software you were using? Interested for the data points, lots of conjecture about cheap cables "soft bricking" ECUs. This would be number two that I am aware of if it was a cheap knockoff cable.

It was not. This one was actually a genuine Tactrix from the OVT flash kit. Hard to say exactly what happened. I walked him through all the usual recovery methods. No bueno.

Interesting, not sure I want to deal with something like this. I know it has only happed on a couple documented occasions, but damn, it can be an expensive recovery.

I was thinking the same thing...sounds like a job for the dealership. Even if I have to drive a bit to find a good one!

It doesn't have to be an expensive fix. It just needs a bench flash, which I can and have done before.

The dealer is going to charge minimum of $500 for the ECM plus their labor and the tow to fix if they don't do it under warranty (they probably wont). They will not bench flash anything, only replace parts.

Do you offer the bench flash as a service? If so, people may be more willing to chance it if they had a way to recover their ECU.

I have offered it to people in the past, including this evening. I didn't think it was a wide spread thing, but seeing as there are now user-generated tunes and a lot more people flashing, it may be worth putting it out there.

I hadn't thought much about what to charge. I mean, the dealer is going to get someone for probably $1k to replace the ECM.

Considering updating 0b430 to 33. Seems my techstream is version 12.20.024, will this work as well? Also, does VFtuner support 0b433? Waiting to get the program registered.

I'm not 100% on if v12 will suffice but I think you should be good to go; @tonered ?

    As for B33 support, yes, you're g2g
