A buddy of mine drove past the Freestyle Fabrication & Off Road and noticed my 4runner is still on the lot and covered in snow. It was supposed to be just about finished, according to the last e-mail I got from the shop owner. WTF is up with so many flaky shop owners?

I left my truck at a shop to install my new shocks. Dropped it off at 6am they said it would be done by 1pm. 1:30 rolls around and no call. I drive by and see my truck is sitting is the same exact spot I left it. Walk in and ask what’s up. Typical response “we are booked, will be done by 3” 3:45 rolls around no call and truck is sitting in the same spot. I wasted almost a whole day of waiting around and told them to forget it. I guess some shops overbook because you know... money.

HA! One trip on the by-pass the other day and it looks like I was in the salt flats after a downpour.

 

I hate when that happens lots of melting snow today ,45 degrees later today ​

 

I'm not making excuses for anyone but let me tell you about a brake job I had yesterday on a 2009 Civic. Car came in with grinding right rear brakes. I found that the r/r caliber was locked up so I priced up and sold a new r/r caliper, r/r brake hose, pads and rotors. Total job with bleeding the brakes should've been a 1.5 hour job. Flare nut on the metal brake line was rusted to the brake line, I pre-soaked it with PB Blaster. With just a slight turn of a wrench the metal brake line split and started leaking. Now I had to drop the rear portion of the exhaust so I could cut out the rusty area of the brake line that ran along the underside of the car. Then I had to flare & fab a new brake line. I got that done so then I move to the L/Rear. Sure enough someone cross threaded one of the caliber mounting bolts. So then I had to tap new threads into that bolt hole and order a new replacement bolt. So that 1.5hr job took me 4 hours. I had a full schedule lined up for the day so some vehicles did not get done or even looked at yesterday. There's ALOT of bullshit working on cars today. In this region rust or a stripped bolt can make a hour job take half a day.

 

Some random shop in Tampa FL, would have done it myself but my apt complex hated when I worked on my truck in the parking lot.

Morning MD. Accidentally stayed up late doing work stuff, so I'm really wishing I had nap time during the day haha.

 

Not regularly doing work at home, but happens sometimes I guess.

Also I think I spotted the Beorn the Fat secret lair on my way home from work. MGM double cab with full rack and Ford Expedition in the drive. Not a stalker, I swear haha but I always see the kitted out taco while passing by
