I'm deciding on continuing to fabricate or go see the Country. I think Country will win. I've done this long enough. LOL

If your not using the correct cover plates that protect against the Ultra violets rays you will have problems.

By chance are you one with blue eyes that have far more problems then us normal people with brown eyes with welding arcs??

I still nod my head some habits never leave.

Old traffic signs exposed to years of weather ??

Nothing worse the trying to clean weather exposed Aluminum even acid seldom helps.

Yes and thank you for reminding me. I may not be able to tour the mountains later on but I'll always be able to screw up a dimension and have to recut something. Ahahahahaha
    Thanks man

I have a wife and 2 kids and the most important thing in the world to me is providing for them and making sure they have all they need but I’ve always had the perspective on life that you “work to live, not live to work”. So you gotta make sure you have a good balance of working and adventuring/enjoying what life has to offer instead of always chasing that extra dollar. You’ll have an awesome time and it’ll be way more memorable and important to your life overall than padding the wallet.

Well said Ryan. I'm very blessed to have raised the kids in a adventure background and I hope they continue to appreciate the Country we live in. My youngest daughter is a photographer in Austin, and I keep trying to get her away from newborns, couples and weddings and head into the back country...lmao. She's a good climber and I'd hate to see her loose her touch. The other daughter is anchored down on a Submarine Base and I won't be able to move her. Too much money to be made there. LOL
    Thanks Ryan

Probably a bit late, but here is a picture of how I secured mine. Another good idea is to glue in indoor outdoor carpet after its painted. That will reduce rattles and prevent the cans from getting scratched up and rusted. Not to mention reduce the rust streaks when it rains.

Same. My side gig allowed me to retire from work 10 years early.

Now I am really enjoying fabrication. No more rushing after work to finish a paying project now. We are liking life a lot now.

Thanks man. Yeah man, that’s awesome. Gotta stay lively and get out an adventure and see what this beautiful world has to offer before it’s too late!

awesome dude! Thanks that looks great. Mine will be something similar for sure. And I love the carpet idea! Definitely don’t want the Jerry cans rattling around back there! Truck already makes enough noises hahaha

That’s awesome dude. That’s the way it should be! If you can find a way to put yourself in a position like that, that’s amazing and it’ll make life so much better

Thank you! I have a couple more things I want to build off of it, like a way to easily store the ramps on the rack to not take up bed space, and still store them inside the structure. It's nothing I want to commit to until I have the tire mount finished and a couple of other things buttoned up.

Another reminder of why it's great to shop at a metal supply place vs a box-store...

20ft stick of 3/4 angle (1/8 thick) for $18 and 20ft stick of 1" by 1/8" flat bar for $7.70 -- plus $1.50 to have both cut in half.

Compare to Tractor Supply - $13 for a 6ft piece of 3/4 angle, and $14 for a 6ft piece of 1" flat bar.

They were coated front and back. Used the flap wheel and the blaster, neither made a difference. I’m not sure they are 5052. I think they are some zinc alloy....

Yeah this one is an independent small town place. County population ~23k people. They’re as happy to supply the farmers and hobbyists as they are the various light industries in the area.

No cut to size tho, they sell by the stick or half stick. Up to you to figure out what to do with the extra. Lol.
