    WOW!

    WOW!

The grid is regulated by market price. And, yes- non-profit mostly means you are not taxed. And the Public Utilities Commission (appointees) regulates a few things, among others, a max price per kWHr (which they allowed at 1000X the pre-storm price). And, the 5 members of ERCOT that don't even live in TX (not actually required) resigned today. Among them, Chair and Co-Chair (elected week before the storm!).

Texas! Providing entertainment long after "Dallas" is off the air!

    Good morning everyone!

We got another 3 to 4" of wet snow yesterday - finally stopped snowing about 3PM. I shoveled and plowed and by then the temps were in the upper 30s so it had started to melt...slush and another round of heart-attack snow. Now it's 22F and icy. Luckily, the sun will be out and temps will be in the 40s so it will melt and dry out most of the driveway. Come on Spring!

Second Covid shot tomorrow for us.

    Stay safe and warm!

Good luck with that. We're approaching fifteen years on our second heat pump, which is about where the first one checked out. Original HVAC company still in business, so that's a plus.
Wow.. hard to belive it's been thirty years since we built the place. Long hours, long drives, 7 days a week, for several months. Only way we could afford it back then was to do it ourselves.. and we're still together, haha.

    ...and vaccinated.

    Good morning all,

Snow in the forecast, not supposed to start until tonight - spoiler alert - IT IS SNOWING now.

Col, thanks for the info. I will look into Weil-McClain systems and see if they are available out here. The real challenge is finding someone that actually knows what they are doing. I was leaning towards the Bosch system as they also supply the installer for warranty reasons. It is a wall mount with more zone options which we will need as I finish the basement and add a mud-room entrance. Just waiting for things go calm down and building materials to drop - way too high right now and that is with Alice's discount at the yard.

Lots of ice after two days of high 30's here then teens at night - melt and freeze, melt and freeze - all adds up to 'Slip Sliding Away'.

Have a great day Hump Day for those still working...

    Good Morning

We got about 2” of widow-maker snow last night but it’s settled to about an inch already. Does that make it lighter? LOL
Got a problem on the truck to sort out. It keeps blowing the blinker/daytime running filament in the bulb on the drivers side but the marker filament in the bulb works fine. Put in two new bulbs and it’s blown both.

    Have a good day

Blowing the DRL on only one side? You musta parked too close to a GM product and it got infected. :D

Finally just went over to one of the county vaccination sites - total run-around through the phone numbers they listed. One turned out to be billing department of a local hospital! DUH Last week's missed days - due to weather delay of deliveries - were rescheduled for the same date and time - in March. Except they didn't notify all the participants by email as advertised.

So today - they were flush with extra vaccine due to the stuff from last week being caught up - and not a lot of people in line. Serum has to be used up in regulation time, so they simply pointed me at the line and said go now. So one down and one to go - according to the paper I got, one month from today / same time same place. They should have just let the Army do it........

Glad you got your vaccination. We get our second one next week. Had basically no reaction to the first, maybe a little fatigue. I’m looking forward to getting the second one so we can start living more normal.
It pisses my off that in many or most states the distribution has been all f’d up. All of the states knew the vaccine was coming and that it would be their responsibility to distribute and vaccinate their citizens. Every single state and governor should have had a distribution vaccination plan in place when the vaccine rolled out. It wouldn’t matter how many doses they got they should have had a plan to distribute 10 or 10,000,000. Should have stipulated who, how, what, when , where.
We got ours through Sutter Health Care which is a large private health care organization in Northern California. They have facilities, clinics and hospitals all over N. Cal. It was a very smooth operation. Just make an appointment at one of their locations which was easy. When we got there the line was long but it never stopped moving. They had at least 50 nurses and doctors working it. We were in and out in 30 minutes and that includes the 15 minute wait after the shot. Left there with our appointment card for the next shot in hand.
I hope it all goes smoothly for all of you. Stay well, be safe.

Good morning. Ribs and chicken on the WSM today. Start the WSM up after guitar lessons which end at 11:30. So I have a pretty full day in front of me. Lucky it is easy. Next stop is Harris Teeter this morning.

Tom, I see you play the guitar also. My guitar teacher put lessons on the back burner till Covid gets down. He said he has me on his list and will contact me when he gets going again. He teaches in his house. Other than a little shopping with the wife nothing big planned for today. We are looking for furniture for the family room in the basement. We need new window treatment down there also. Wife has a hard time making her mind up when she sees the options. Oh well been married 45 years and she hasn't changed but neither have I. Have a great day and be healthy, wealthy, and wise.
    Russ
