"Quick" 6 hour gasket match/polish job yesterday on both heads + intake manifold ends (skipped exhaust). Just need to lap valves now. Far from perfect, but I just wanted to get it done so I can get driving again and have the peace of mind that I at least gave it some effort.

Wonder if you get any noticeable improvement from the polishing/matching. Or are you going to see some other benefits? Did your head gasket go out??

Probably not a lot from the intake runners. These castings were a lot better than the other vehicle I've done this on. The most material I removed was around the injector ports, so perhaps that will improve mixing a little, as air can now better flow near the top of the injector spray. Also on the left and right intake ports, I enlarged them on the left and right, respectively, due to a large casting imperfection at each end and a perceived flow restriction due to the channel closing slightly before opening again.
I was most concerned with smoothing the bowl to reduce the risk of predetonation under boost. The 80 grit "polish" on the intake should reduce carbon deposits and promote smaller grain break-off when it does happen.

And yes, the head gasket went and spurred all of this

It won't need to, by then we'll just beam it straight into our brains via USB 27.

Meh. I’m done being sidetracked from this truck. The tundras practically done sans interior. But I need a donor for that.
The Mercedes is waiting for a rare engine to pop up.

once the red corolla is back from the body shop im throwing front brakes on it and fixing it’s only leak and it’s getting sold.
The money I make off the corolla goes straight to the tacoma
