Hey everyone new member here. So I have a 2015 2.7 5speed that I just installed a URD sc kit on and I’m having some trouble. Truck starts and idles fine but struggles to rev past 2500 rpm. Double checked all the work and everything seems right but when you give it gas you can feel the bov suck air in and doesn’t sound like it letting air out. Any ideas?

I’ll throw my guess in. The bov should open when vacuum is applied to the small hose and remain closed at atmospheric pressure and boost. You might have to take it off to test. If you have a hand vacuum pump pull vacuum on the small hose, it should open. If it’s sucking air at idle, it’s defective.

    I’m guessing a defective bov.

Can you see inside, that it’s seated without vacuum? Or try blowing in the big part, air shouldn’t come out without vacuum applied

I just left my brothers where the truck is but you could see the valve inside slowly move back as you give it gas and it would suck more and more air in

You can bypass the bov to test it. Plug the bov with a vacuum cap and then remove one of the vacuum tees and put the vacuum routing back together. The system uses a bypass valve too so everything will function just fine. I ran mine like this a few days bc i got tired of listening to it. If it starts functioning normally things would point to the bov as the culprit

Were you having issues with your bov as well?

Now that i think of it you may not be able to test it by plugging it if something inside it failed and its just sucking in air.

I’m not familiar with the exact setup. Does the bov vent to atmosphere or routed back to the intake?

My opinion on the noise maker bov, noise because it “sounds cool”. If you imagine a fart, air passing a valve or anus, rapidly opening and closing, causing the noise. A sounds cool bov isn’t efficient because it’s farting or rapidly opening and closing, not flowing air that well. A better efficient bov you won’t hear anything or a wooosh sound with no fluttering. My Supra stock unit fluttered so I replaced it with a Bosch one out of a Porsche 944. I had to get creative with hoses but got it to work. Performance wise, it makes no additional power but boost would come back up faster between shifts. Best of all no fart sound. I had difficulty explaining to the Porsche parts guy what I wanted. I don’t remember what they called it but it wasn’t blow off valve. They wanted to get me a wastegate.

It’s designed to vent to atmosphere. It’s a HKS bov

Call URDUSA at 877-887-3872 and choose the extension for tech support. Gadget will answer and answer your questions! I also have a URD SC installed on my 3rd gen 3.5L. Gadget has been very helpful with my truck.

    This.

Also, it kind of sounds like it is in some form of limp mode. Do you have any check engine lights?
