That looks like a decent “first build” to let you figure out what you like and what you want to change.

You might consider the DD RIS II FSP, they're free float and built to clear FSP guns with more room to play. Just gotta eat the weight and DD tax. Otherwise I think ADCO mills FSP's to fit under handguards.

You're on the right track. I can't speak to MD laws but that's a solid start point. Holosun gets lots of flak for being China made, but they're hard to count out for longevity. My rifle started as a PSA rifle kit on an Anderson lower, and you can see where it's gone since. I will point out I haven't replaced anything because it was necessary, rather because I can't leave well enough alone.

I’d recommend the SBA3 over SBA4 brace and consider this upper as well

Holy cow that’s flipping expensive! I was prepared to see $300-350 but $450 for a picatinny rail system? They’re out of their damn mind!
Midwest Industries has a drop in rail that accommodates the FSB, it’s around $200.
If I send something to ADCO it’ll be a barrel, I’ve got a dremel, I can cut the FSB myself

X2 on Holosun, not a big fan of supporting foreign companies but the US companies can’t compete at that price point, I have a 403C on my SBR, a 507C on my M&P40, a 509T that is at C&H PWS getting mated the the slide on my M&P 9L pro series, and I have a 403C waiting to go on my sisters rifle, a 503C waiting to go on my AR pistol build, and a 407K in the mail to give to my mom as a birthday present for her Springfield hellcat.

The next optic I buy will be a swampfox though, I want to try one (probably the blade), and my dad needs optics for his AR’s (and he won’t buy them), so I’ll get him one as a birthday present.

Ain't that the fucking truth. I guess when you're the name brand that everybody knows is what the OG's use it's easy to get proud of your stuff lol. I considered putting a Block II clone together but after tallying pricing up I realized I'd be better off spending the money elsewhere.

The sba3 is just my personal preference but I have heard a number of complaints about the sba4. As far as the upper goes there’s a few things.

    1. 11.5” barrel is a better overall length for most people’s use and can provide better longevity to parts

    2. Nitride is a more durable finish and will clean easier

    3. Handuard doesn’t cover the muzzle device. This leaves more options for future changes

What are your overall goals for this rifle? If there’s one thing I’d recommend its to buy the highest quality you can afford.

There's certainly no "one size fits all" solution. Overall firearm length, rail length, available real estate are all variables that come into play.

I should have a much more defined answer to this question, but the truth is that I’m so new that I’m just looking for something to get me started. I know that I’ll probably end up modding it just as I do with all of the hobbies I get into.

I dont know lol. Figure it's something to have. Diemaco parts aren't all that common.
