After experiencing what HCM did to Gizmo , I hope that any of you guys never have to see their cats suffer from this

I can only imagine, I hope not as well. Neither of ours are considered 'large' breeds prone to HCM, but they are large chonks...I dunno if that is also what makes them susceptible. Either way I think I'll schedule a check up for them just to make sure all is well.

So very sorry to hear this Chuck. I haven't been around much lately but this is the thread I keep checking in on. Happy to at least be able to offer condolences in a timely manner. Very sorry for you and a tear has been shed for both of you. :(.

Not to take away from my wife’s cats, but Zoey is my personal favorite.

This exact same thing happened to our late kitty Max. I stayed home sick one day and she was totally fine and when I got up to pee she was dragging her back legs. She was able to recover and stayed with us for a few more months until the tumor ran its course. It was a very difficult time for us to say the least but ultimately it led us to Suki who we love just as much as Max - just a little different. I still well up a little when I find myself thinking about her and when that happens I know I just need to get busy and start working on something to take my mind off of it.
Chuck I hope as the days pass the sadness will lessen and the happy memories of Gizmo will give you a reason to smile. And when the time is right another kitty will find it’s way into your life and heart. There’s no way to better honor Gizomo than to continue to give a cat a loving home. Hang in there...

Bag on floor, less than four seconds and she’s in.

    Well said.
It's never easy losing a pet. I think what has helped me is knowing how well I cared for them and the love given just the same.
The last cat we lost made me much more sad than I can remember being over any pet. I think because in his last days he found comfort closest to me. I was the one also who found him, a little tiny furball in the palm of my hand...

This one I'm going to call ghost. She's getting a little more brave but still flighty. Kind of wish they were tame enough to take a little better care of. Ghost looks like she's got something going on with her eye20210224_181725.jpg
