I just ordered a SnailArmor aluminum tailgate panel/liner
It was $157.25 with a 15% discount and free shipping
tacomaworld15 was the discount code. Seems like a good product for a decent price. Anyone have any experience with this product or reviews? I like the idea of a flat surface for knees, grill and etc. thanks.

Not this product specifically (got a good deal on a mountain hatch), but I absolutely second the flat surface. I use it for so much random crap daily.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
While I can appreciate the benefit of a flat surface on the tailgate, I find the corrugations helpful when using it as a work bench. I also do NOT want a smooth surface when I'm climbing into the bed over the tailgate (I have a cap), especially when there may be some snow on it. A rough textured surface is far safer under those conditions.
To each his own for sure - it's all in how you're going to use your Taco.

I purchased one a bit ago. I freaking love it so far. I didn't get the sweet discount code so I paid full price. It also took over a month to ship. Times being what they are and small business supply chains being a bit rough I didn't sweat it. Vendor does a solid job of communicating and sent the bulk of parts along then sent the nicer bolts when they were ready. Packaging was good, price was good, install was easy. So far it's on my top 5 mod list. I hated the corrugation on my knees and I was in and out of the canopy regularly.

Here it is with stock bolts all around. I eventually replaced the bolts along the bottom with the flush mount. For those counting pounds this adds 2.5lbs but doesn't seem to change the feel of opening or closing the tailgate.

I bought mine months ago. Takes a beating from scuba tanks on and off constantly during the week and weekends. Well built product.

What? The stock tailgate skin is a slip and slide the instant even a drop of water gets on it. The textured powder coating on this is way less slippery.

I don't find it to be too bad, but I have nothing to compare against. Not enough incentive to compare. As I said, I prefer the corrugations when I use the tailgate as a work surface.
Whatever works for you I guess.

Thanks. I have been considering ordering it and the 15% discount, sealed the deal.

I’m curious if those that already have installed an aluminum or steel tailgate panel have used caulk or silicone adhesive before installing the panel if for nothing else but sound deadening???

Nope, never considered it and don’t think it’s necessary.

That's too bad. Haven't had any issues with mine and it basically lives in the desert heat. Still think these are well overpriced for what they are, but that's what the second hand market is for, right?

I'll throw in a plug for Jimmy and Snail Armor. Solid product and amazing service. Jimmy seems like a really stand-up guy to boot.

No misaligned holes, and received 4 extra extended screws to use in place of the stock ones. Install was less than ten minutes. Ordered in Grey, and it matches cement well. Used the 20% off code as well for about $200 out the door.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate that we are starting to see more options for these.
