"Best Battery" for OEM Replacement?

I interpreted that as saying the Interstate battery @Costco was the real winner. Same manufacturer as the Walmart battery, but $30 less.

 

How did that battery work out for you?

 

Here is the problem Walmart only shows the plain 27, not the 27F the F has the + terminal on the left side which is correct for the Tacoma and there is not enough + Positive cable to switch to the other side on the plain 27 right side.

 

Over 2 years later and I've had zero issues and zero regrets.

With that said, next time I plan to buy a Costco Interstate battery.

Update: I got just under 4 years out of the battery, before I put in a DieHard. Costco didn't have any 27F's in stock and I couldn't wait.

 

I have a costco 27f that has worked fine for me. the warranty is not as long as it once was but still good.

 

my Benny's battery is still kicking it after more than 4 years of service

OEM battery lasted me just over 7 years.

 

So seems that sams, walmart and others do not sell the 27f batteries... is there a size difference between that and a 31f battery... ( will it fit in the 27f tray and tie down?)

I'm actually looking to switch from Costco Interstate 27F. I go on a lot of business trips and sometimes the truck is not driven for a month or two. The OEM battery lasted for 10 years with no issues (and the truck always started fine, summer or winter, even after not having been driven for a couple of months). Replaced it with Interstate 27F and having really bad luck with it just a year later. Same story, business trips, truck not getting driven, but now it was twice that I wasn't able to start it. Really poor showing compared to the OEM battery as far as I'm concerned. (OK, maybe my usage or lack of it is extreme, but still).

Sounds like the OEM must've been Panasonic and can't be purchased. Walmart doesn't make 27F. What's the closest to the OEM I can get? Can't have unreliable battery in my truck. My truck is 2010 V6 with towing package.

 

I have one of these solar chargers. It's weak, won't bring a battery back from dead, not waterproof. But for a weak battery, it does enough to keep it from not being able to start. It even charges with the street lights.

In my work truck I stuck it up on the dash with double sided tape. In the picture, I just set it up there for temporary, plug it in Friday after work so it’ll start Monday morning. In my other work truck, that got smashed and had a hole on the battery, it charged enough to charge my cell phone and tool batteries.

 

So my 2013 Tacoma battery finally bit the dust. It’s my fault. This battery survived jumpstarting about a dozen cars per year for the first six years. I would jump them and turn the truck off almost immediately afterward. The last few years I rarely drive it. Yesterday I needed to check my odometer for my insurance discount (26,xxx). I turned the ignition on and apparently left it on overnight. It’s dead. It could probably be jumped and it might recharge, but 9 years is enough.
After reading the thread I think I’m going to go with a WalMart battery. It seems no matter the cost or brand the warranty is only three years.

 

Wow 9 years. That's impressive. Mine is 4 yrs old now and I'm thinking of pro actively replacing it.

 

i change my battery out every five years... i've learned life lessons not to push it to its limit... dead batteries normally coincide with the worst-case scenario... middle of the night out in the sticks caught in a rainstorm... i do carry a Micro-Start XP-10 now also as additional insurance...

 

My 13 is still on the factory battery.

It’s tired. Going to retire it in the next couple weeks.

I have been buying Bosch batteries from PepBoys. You get a nice discount for buying online...then drive in and they install. I am on my 4th one (3 different vehicles) and I replace at 7 years no matter what.

I just replaced the battery in my 2010 tacoma so I managed 13 years of Canadian winters. The only 27f available had a 3 yr warranty so I went with a 24f agm eveready from Costco with a 5 year warranty for 45$ more. Something to note is I was getting an check engine code P0137 which is an O2 sensor low voltage which would not clear even though the O2 sensor looked like it was working ok. I replaced the battery and the error stopped immediately.
