Just saw an interview on the news with a power guy from out in your area about having to replace 30 poles that were snapped at the base from the storm.

They were new last year! Up to code to carry 1/4" of ice. Unfortunately - there was 1". He said, "sorry, but it's like that all over". No wonder it took them a while to get around. They have 30 crews in Gillespie County. They've been out 24/7.....

 

the guy i work with is still without power and they told him it could be a month before its restored. He’s out west of harper though. That ice tore some stuff up

 

Yeah, it did. He really didn't want to answer that "how long" question from the interviewer..... I didn't mention those 30 poles were IN A ROW! Guess I can't blame him. They have extra help, but it's the same story at every pole, and you know your terrain out there..... Some of those folks take 30 poles just to get to the property!

 

Yea a stretch from mountain home to junction it was like 20 miles of phase 3 power line went down during the freeze and over 3000 people in the area didn't have power for 3 days there still people on doss spring creek road off 290 without power they haven't got to them yet

 

I'm so happy I moved from mountain home I would be stuck in that mess right now

 

As of right now there's 28 different crews staying in hotels here in Fredericksburg still working on power lines out west of fredericksburg and harper there's volunteer crews as far away as midland and Abilene that came down to help

 

My brother in law's sister married a lineman here in Fredericksburg he worked 37 hours straight last week during the freeze trying to keep power inside fredericksburg city limits he said that it was a loosing battle for ctec they only have 8 crews and they were swamped by Tuesday night all the crews had put in 26 hours in 2 days they were exhausted
