I have a 2002 tacoma and about a month ago i notice that when i turned the AC knob to hot that it would start to make a really loud anoying ticking sound, that would go away in about 30 seconds. But even after the sound goes away the heater still does not come on. Anyone have this kinda problem or have any suggestions on what i should do. O and the sound seems to be coming from right under the glove box. Thanks

Sounds like the gears on the HVAC air control door (directs heated or cooled air to vents) motor are stripped. The temp control knob activates this motor.
It would help to download an FSM to aid in locating and troubleshooting this.

Haven't done this on the Tacoma, but had a similar issue on my 240SX.
In this case, found another motor at the wrecking yard.

on my 06- my ac rattle was the cold inlet pipe rattling against the fender... solved with foam tape.
