The horn on the truck is worse than my prius. Supertones sounded like oem but louder so I opted for Hella Trumpets for the lower tone. Much better. An air horn might be more fun but for now this was a good $25 upgrade.

I thought the red under the grill would look cool but its too obvious so I sprayed them black

That is a very nice QOL upgrade you did there. Those horns sound pretty good and are sure to grab some attention now.

About the only time my horn gets used is during inspection to test if it works.

I would hate to drive any place I ever needed to use it.

From what I remember it’s just a 12v wire. You can extend that wire to the hella relay, add the ground and connect the horns. It’s really simple

Out of curiosity, why the need for a new relay? I’d have thought the stock horns already ran through one. Is the draw of these much different than stock?

Thanks for replying. Suppose it’s easy enough to figure out if I decide to make the swap. The stock horns are pretty anemic, but I’ve had them so long I’ll probably consider the swap only when I have need to pull the grill for another project. Missed an opportunity with a recent timing belt change.

Maybe depending on the year Tacoma, the early Tacoma like mine has one horn and the 2000 forwards has two horns ,
So possibly a relay is needed for the single horn going to a double horn setup?

Which setup you have? I’ll have to take a look to see what wiring I’ll need
