There is no comfort increase in the limited. PRO rides best.
That said price discrepancy is accurate

Now don’t get me wrong if I could have gotten a 2021 Pro all blacked out for the same price I would have no questions asked lol

During the last week of December 17, I scooped my new DCLB TRD OR. Sunroof & heated seats were the only extra options. Think I paid ~$34,000. Pays to wait until end of year if you can!

Yikes, seeing some of the prices paid on these things makes me cringe. My 2004 crew cab Powerstroke stickered for $42,000 when it was new, and when I bought it a year later, it wasn't anywhere near that. None the less.

Just found my way to the forum here, bought mine a month ago. Paid the note on my old work pickup (2011 Silverado), and decided to check out what the local Toyota shop had for used. I'm an old MT junkie, always had at least one, but said Powerstroke isn't getting any younger, so I wanted one more before they go away from all mfrs. Toyota salesman more of less says "you have to be that snowflake. You realize that's a unicorn, right?" Sure, bud, but do you want to sell me something or not? That was on January 15th. I had a deal made for what was supposed to be a white one (my preference), but I'm really not color picky. They got me a red one from Illinois, trucked it in and it had four miles on it when I picked it up. I'm too lazy to take a picture and get it to my laptop.

    Picked it up on 1/22/21

    2021 7545A, DCSB TRD OR 4x4 MT
    MSRP $35,450
Tonneau Cover (which was removed since I needed a topper) $650
    Floor Liner $248
    Tube Steps $469
    Mudguards $129
    Bed Light $149
    Black Out Pkg $415
    Delivery $1175
    TOTAL $38,685, -650

    MINUS $1000 Rebate
    Minus $5500 trade, 2011 Silverado w/ 260k

Add $2000 Leer topper (total on it is actually $2650, but that's what we'd agreed on, salesman had no idea what model I really needed, and it was a few hundred bucks more)
    Add Fees $503
    Add 150k warranty $2441
    Sales tax $2735.93

    Total financed $39214

And I got a hella great 1.99% rate from Wells Fargo.

I think I only got $1,000 off MSRP but I'll check my deal later and post. Purchased mine about 2 weeks into the new year.

Two years ago I made an active decision to buy a Tacoma. I've been all over the map, starting with new 3rd gens, gently used 2nd gens, and even keeping an eye out for a decent 1st gen. This passed weekend my gf and I took a 7hr road trip to pickup a new 3rd gen. Given the current supply/demand issues, I think I did alright. Pretty much every dealer in my area wouldn't budge on price, unless I compromised on color, model, etc. So when I saw this gem with a advertised 6% off, I jumped on it and while I would've been willing to fight for more I was drained from all the local dealers I dealt with, tired of hearing "no we cant offer a discount due to supply issues" (blah blah....blah) or "sorry, that truck is already sold" it was just very old at this point. So, I took the deal as is and am happy with it overall, exact truck I wanted.

    1. 2021 SR5 4x4 AT DCLB
    2. MSRP = $37228
    3. Options:
    All-weather floor liner/door sill protector
    4. Cost of dealer add ons = NONE
    5. Price before Tax Title License (TTL) including incentive/rebate = $34887.
    6. Discount 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP) = 6.3%
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash) = $1000
    8. Price Out The Door (OTD) = $40400.85
    9. Trade in vehicle(year, make, model, trim) = 2003 Honda Element EX AWD
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value = $1368 - $2373 average $1871 for "good" condition.
    11. Trade allowance(amount given for trade) = $2000
    12. Date purchased: 2/19/2021
    13. State purchased: OR (I live in WA though, so WA taxes are included)

I had a difficult time finding a dealer in PNW who didn't markup the TRD Pro over MSRP. People are buying these $5k+ over.
Seems like a good deal. I'm in WA also and had supply issue. Seems like you also did well on the trade in. Most dealers (I contacted 21 in WA state) were only offering $1000-1500 for my 2007 Hyundai Tucson with a similar KBB "good" trade in range as your Element. This was able to lower the taxable amount on the new truck too, no? So a 8-10% back-end bonus on the trade-in. I ended up selling mine private party on Autotrader.

Yeah the trade was solid...offered it right over the phone too. Most of the WA dealers I dealt with would actually decline the trade or it's where the deal fell apart altogether, either they didnt want it or would offer 500-800 for it. Like fuck outta here with that shit. I also noticed a dealer down in Vancouver marking up all their models by 8k-10k, I was blown away.

This whole process showed me how much I dislike dealers in WA, its just always such a battle and its tiring. Back in May another OR dealer offered me 10% off msrp, straight up, no questions asked. I wish I would've jumped on that one but I'm glad I passed as our financial situation was uncertain back then.

Even buying my gfs Jeep at a local dealer was super irritating and even degrading on her end.

Hey I've got 200 Honda Element EX AWD! Still runs like a champ (knock on wood). I'm in the market for a Tacoma so my oldest kid can start to use the Element.

I read an article in the business section today about new and used car sales and how it is essentially a viscious circle for both markets. With new vehicles in short supply, those prices went up and people are having a hard time finding what they want so people are standing on the sidelines. In turn, this decreases supply in the used car market. Stats from article for 2020:
    • New car prices rose by 6%
    • Used car prices rose by 14%

Selling a car is a pain the ass so I would do a trade in as well if I had one to trade, but I wonder how many people doing trade-ins at KBB values might think they are getting a better deal off the MSRP of their new vehicle when really the dealer is making up for it on the trade in. They already low ball, we know this. They are probably still low-balling but making out better on the other end of it when they sell it off at auction to used car dealers. Not saying you didn't get a good deal on your Tacoma, even if they made more on your trade in than you would think, the $2500 off + $1000 Toyota incentive is a great deal. Just trying to make sense of people getting 5-10% off in some markets, and in other markets there is no budging. If there is a trade in in the mix, it muddys things up more now than before the pandemic.

Exactly. Likely a fair amount of deals listed here are skewed by this. Which is why I included it on the template used by @waffleiron How many people accepted the $800 offered in his example instead of holding out for 2000 like he did? Effectively eats up half the discount. It all comes out in the wash for the dealers. I definitely prefer trading in to not have to deal with the tire kicker BS. But the dealer has to get close to or in the case of my 2020, over KBB private party value. Definitely a very common misconception that if you trade in at a dealership then you are automatically going to get taken to the cleaners on the trade.
