its around 40 degress or so here today and very nice out. So finally a good time to get rid off all ice build up on the truck.

I hammered n chiseled out the big ice chunk in the door jam. And will dry in there, and spray it with Krown when I get home later.

Also hammered out all the ice/snow in my bed that had been there since December.

    I need a garage :/

No problem. Its wise to add to a list of don'ts.

Many people are unable to use reasonable judgement.

Like the gal trying to kick her key into the door lock......the key broke off. Big surprise, lack of reasonable judgement.

Some of us don’t have the luxury of being around all the time after it snows..... daily.....
some of us leave a vehicle in a parking lot for a week or more while we are away working.

Pouring even hot water at -20 does not work. If it’s -30 well, likely the snow didn’t melt as the sun hasn’t enough strength yet :)

That is the time to use an alcohol based de-icer. Or, just live with the iced door jamb.

Wish I found this thread before buying my vehicle. Nothing like a 2 month old vehicle with chipping paint on the door due to the "design" of the truck. My dealership filed the issue with Toyota but "nothing can be done" until enough people report the problem. Hope everyone in the snow belts are reporting this.

Funny thing...... I get the ice dam in that location, but I take care of it and remove it.

    Not a problem.

As others have stated, we can't sit there and watch our vehicles. Silly me for thinking a 2021 vehicle could handle basic winter weather. It's not like I'm complaining after a 100 year ice storm. I did my best one day and it was back scraping literally the next day.

    Gee thanks.

Actually, not good, just rational and willing to think and solve minor problems.

Maybe it’s my reading comprehension, but I feel like a lot of your comments have been rather condescending. Again, some times the problem is with just online conversation, sometimes it’s just the person. But what ever it is, I’m done and out of this thread now.

No condescension...... just sharing information and experience.

You can use or ignore.......your choice.

I'd avoid using hot water for anything other than coffee in the winter.

I've never had this issue since I park in garage but just thinking outloud: would a strategic squirt of spray foam help? Or place a tarp over your hood/water entry point if overnight snow is in the forecast?

Well I finally took my truck to the car wash and got all the dirt and salt off. I look in corner where all the ice built up. Boom... there’s a chip in the paint. Couldn’t be more upset. I have a new truck with 1500 miles on it and there’s already a chip in the paint. I leased the truck with a plan on buying it. But all I’m seeing now is a area for rust to start.

think the dealer would repair it since it’s a lease?

I got more than that. My door actually flexed and the metal is curved out. My dealer is sending this to Toyota, still waiting to hear back.

Mine's a lease too and I was planning on buying.

I just read over that tsb, its for 16-17 models only, but it only talks about build up in the cowl causing the wipers to not work right.

While they may be related (ice in cowl melts and drains down to door jamb) I dont know if toyota techs would make that connection and say the tsb applies.

I think I’m going to scuff up that area with a scotch brite pad then tape it off and spray undercoating there. There’s no doubt it’s going to continue to happen so I mind as well put another layer of protection there
