I don't think comparing the price you paid 3+ years ago gives an accurate representation of what 2021 owners should aim for. Between inflation and a pandemic shortage good luck getting anywhere close to $34k for a TRD model. Waiting until the December 31st doesn't work like it used to either. Dealerships are packed for pretty much all of December with customers all expecting the same end of year mega discounts. Because of this, the deals really aren't any better than the end of a quarter for any time of the year.

.. msrp? pretty much we got all the options we could get on it.
tundras are nice but totally different category and not what we were going for. unfortunately the trd PROs out here are marked up 20k so that’s a no-go.
very happy with this - we got the color and option we wanted.

No, otd. The tundra is a whole other animal and thats why it blows my mind that a TRD OR Taco went for that much. I guess these trucks are starting to go up in price a lot.

Just purchased my first Tacoma (and Toyota) last week after six months of researching and two months of serious hunting:
    • 2021 SR5, DCSB, 4x4, AT, V6, Super White, dark gray alloy wheels
    • Only add-on is additional backseat USB charging ports and cables
    • Total MSRP - $36,679 ($35,305 base + $199 PIO + $1,175 delivery)
    • OTD price (vehicle sale price + dealer fees, no TLL) - $33,200 - 9.5% off MSRP
Put deposit down to hold the truck in early February, picked up ~2weeks later after dealer secured it from distributor. I had to drive more than 200miles and across state lines (MS to AL) to find a dealer with an SR5 without all the port and dealer installed add-ons. The Gulf States dealers in my area told me that "Toyota doesn't make a truck with options like that"... Sucks that I couldn't do business locally, but the team at Hoover Toyota was more than happy to work with me. Highly recommend them if you're in the central AL area.

Lmao just got basically the same price for a family member's exact same vehicle, $32,500 was my target price and tired of negotiating ended up going for 32,600.

Cobb County Toyota amongst the few willing to drop the price a bit.

2021 SR5, DCSB, 4x4, V6, AT, Voodoo Blue, dark grey wheels = $36,301 not including the $500 to order the thing. they did give a $1,000 rebate but taxes and what not drove it to $39,425.

2021 TRD Off Road 4x4, Army Green, tech pkg, all weather floor liners, trd skid plate, predator steps, mudguards, exhaust tip. Total MSRP $40,970. Paid $35,500 b/f $500 doc fees, sales taxes and registration.

On a side note, I saved over 2k on sales taxes b/c I traded in my 2020 red Barcelona, 4cyl, SR. The 2020 SR, I bought last year for 22.5 (MSRP 27k). I ended getting 25k for the trade in :)

I managed to get a 21 TRD off road for 2.5k under MSRP. It was inbound to the dealership and had to wait a bit

Looks like the dealer has added the TRD lift kit. Removing fog lights due to increased height is part of that procedure.

For my education, can you explain why? Trying to understand why the TRD lift would require them to be removed.

Probably no longer compliant in some states. Would you ever get pulled over for it? Probably not but Toyota has to sell the vehicle in compliance with whatever the standards are, i think in my state it's like they can't be higher than 30in or lower than 10 or 12in....someone can check me on that.

Toyota lift kit install instructions specifically instruct dealerships to replace lights with the fog blanks, which are a part of the kit. Makes questionable sense, but that’s the reason.

2021 TRD OR DCSB army green with manual transmission.
    No other options. None
    MSRP 36,725

    Dealer discount $2700
    "closing fee" $452
    sales tax $500

We agreed on $35,000 total OTD which should be pretty close to the sum on my numbers.
    No trade, No financing

It will be an allocated unit. Not sure how long it will take.
