Basically I have all my Roth in different stocks. Used the rest to buy GME at $63 yesterday. So until what I just sold settles, says good faith violation.

Yeah gotta wait until you have settled cash or you can't sell that stock until it settles. So for long term stuff it'd be fine

I wouldn't touch RH. I'm stuck with it for now because I can't risk having my shares tied up in a move, but I wouldn't put anymore money into it.

 

Is RH instantaneous with the deposits? I know a big issue with the first squeeze was folks not being able to deposit and then buy right away...

 

For low value accounts, they give you $1k instant deposit. It goes up higher and higher the more money you have.

Hmm thanks for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful response. I still have a lot to learn. I've been trying to hold out until the stimulus hits, hoping it will boost the market, but I've been hemorrhaging my gains these past two weeks. My intuition is telling me that we are yet to pay the economic price for covid yet. We could be seeing the beginning of that downward trend. Either way, I've gone from bull to bear over the past two weeks.

 

Yes, deposit the money as normally brokerages will let you immediately invest deposited cash

 

I had this problem with webull. You get instant deposit credit that you can invest right away while your deposit settles but it becomes an unsettled balance so you can’t day trade with it

No. I think I recall throwing a bunch of extra money in there early in the new year and I think it took 28 hours. That was $50K though. Maybe that is why it took so long. But, I already had an account with money in it, not like I was opening a new account.

 

SO...now we've got people saying "It's not worth it...is it?" Portnoy coming to the realization what it means financially when you short the shit out of a stock and reach a day of reckoning. THe money to cover the losses has to come from somewhere...And here's the kicker...as I've said before, The stocks are not being sold because they have lost value. They are being sold because they MUST be sold. If I have 40+ shares of $GME and it goes plaid....I sell for $40,000...I've got $40,000 to turn around an buy anything from the yard sale...and get a fat return on THAT as well...
It could be a perfect storm...

It's got to be astonishingly stressful....

NOW the 6 million dollar question...WILL they allow the market to work this out or will they again interfere?
