Probably won’t hurt to do the guides. Avoid aftermarket unless it’s AISIN. Trying to save a buck on timing components can end up costing you an engine in the long run.

Well I was getting everything ready and cleaned up so when parts got here it’s all set to go. I’m doing the balance shaft delete kit and when I went to remove the driver side shaft it’s hung up on something. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if this wasn’t the original issues and made the balance chain go

I was able to get the shaft out by cutting the front bearing by and bringing it all out. The rear bearing was seized to the shaft. Here’s a few pics of the progress, still waiting on the tone ring to get here.

Ye it’s crazy. The crazy part is I’m not sure if the chain was the original culprit or at the moment that shaft seized to the rear bearing.

I finally got it all back together and start it up and it idles just fine for a few mins then it starts making a knocking noise but not 100% consistent. It’s a obvious knock but not sure where to start. It goes away and come back ever so oftern

I got them loaded to YouTube but for some reason I’m having trouble loading them here. If anyone is on YouTube check them videos out and let me know what you think.
