I’m now thinking it’s a combination of stop-and-go driving, ethanol gas, and my leadfoot...

Are you still doing Door-Dash and is the idle time and stop and go traffic included in the current MPG?

If so, 14mpg sounds pretty reasonable to me. Idle and stop/go take a hard hit on MPG.

It just seems particularly bad considering that my uncle's 2012 Tundra access cab 5.7L 2WD averages around 12 MPG.

The window sticker said 19 city and 25 highway; I thought 22 on the drive home from Carlisle last August was pretty good...

Tried one of those Hydrogen things appx. 20 yrs ago on a Dodge Ram 4X4. Couldn't think I was that dumb, but I was. I paid appx. $59 for it back then, luckily I only lost $59, It didn't hurt anything. Total "Snake Oil". An oxygen sensor will cause loss of fuel mi. but that should throw codes.

Maybe try an experiment after your next fill up, try to not leadfoot it to see if there is any change.

I’m also shutting off the truck while parked between DoorDash orders, if it isn’t too cold...

There are times when it’s just so bitterly cold that I can’t go without the heater on for more than a few minutes at a time!

Even better. 2/3 the cost of the 4.0, looks like $100

getting the advertised gas mileage is about power to weight ratio and staying in the vehicles power band. Is yours a slush box?

Those transmissions are not very efficient for driving in the city. Maybe consider swapping to a 5 speed.

I’ve pondered it, but I think that might cost more than it’s worth...

Also, don’t you think there’s a reason automatics have foot pedal parking brakes while manuals had pull-and-turn hand brakes until production of the 2nd Gen ended? My truck has a push-to-release foot pedal brake...

Cold weather kills milage too, by the way. :santa2:

Per the EPA website, the difference between 70 degrees F and 20 degrees F will kill roughly 20-25% mileage for the average car.

I remember the conspiracy theory back during the 1970's oil embargo of some guy who invented a carburetor that would get 100 mpg. But the government and oil industry had him killed. Some things never change.

    Hey buddy.
I mean this in a very nice way.
But you seem to be worried about MPG.

If this is the case, are you sure you want to add the lift kit?
I don’t see it helping you any, I’d think the aerodynamics alone would cut a bit more off your MPG?

Again, I am saying this as a friend. Not to be negative.
I actually enjoy reading your post. You are definitely detail oriented.

It should not work install to the gas tank. Old days they installed the kit with engine block. Hydrogen gas will help the gasoline burned better compared to oxygen. the problem thy have back in day is burning too hot and destroy pistons head.
