Yeah that was a DLT trading exclusive in 20cv for a delica it's pretty badass. I may change the scales to some carbon fiber or titanium that I'll anodize.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to keep my spare tire carrier from bouncing around. I know some deflection is to be expected, but it gets old looking in the rear view mirror and seeing it move around. Not sure what to do to stop it.

At the end of the day it’s 96 pounds mounted up and out and on a hinge. Lots of torque. Might just make one of those “tire gate” things and have two vertical connection points and get rid of the tailgate

Your latch was pretty small from what I could tell. But most carriers have a little play. Mine has some as well but doesn’t effect the integrity of the arm. Just have to make a super tight latch with enough clamping power. Mine is better the tighter I make it.

don’t settle for any play if you like the swingout, just keep working on it and you can make it stout. It took a little trial and error, but the swingout I built on my last bumper had 0 play. I had to brace the swingout and gusset the bumper (internally and externally) at the hinge point. My latch spring loaded on the bumper with a rubber pads in a vertical and horizontal position to the bumper. A lot of that strength came from the latch and hinge I used, they are beef.

On mine, I ended up using a 5/8 hitch pin that slides into 5/8 DOM tubing. It still rattled a tad but when I added the jerry can mount, the weight shifted and stopped the rattling so it’s very sturdy

I think the latch is playing a part. I definitely got a smaller one than I thought. I’m getting movement front to back.

I think beefing up around the hinge should help. The latch might be allowing it to move back and forth in and away from the tailgate.

There's a guy up here that built a gate that was pretty cool. To be fair even my tire pinned up against the bed I can see ever so slightly move even going down the highway. I think it's inevitable.

Your archive shock towers are the solution to your problem! Make a cross brace between your shock towers and hard mount your tire to that.

Maldonado lake sure it’s not the bumper. Try to push the tire forward while the swingout is closed and see if the bumper has any give to it. My old bumper didn’t handle the swingout worth a darn in the form I bought it in.
