Tacoma owners who ride motorcycles? seems like i've found my people here. :D

I've got a Multistrada for touring, a Husky 300 2 stroke for trail riding and a GasGas trials bike for making bad decisions on. I'm on them whenever i'm not in the shop playing mechanic or machinist.

    Greetings from Utah!

Depending on its life - its getting there. They go in the most marvelous ways - always showing copper for rod bearings the oil change before the Big Bang. They always feel fastest then, and almost always go under load(4th-6th gear long straightaways). I would want to hear it run. Rebuilds are not cheap and will probably cost what the bike is worth (even if you do it yourself). If it takes the cases, they usually up as a few boxes full of parts.

2001 was the last year of the 996
even though the miles are high and the thing has been sitting for some years it still has some worth, the 916/996/998 bikes are considered to be some of the most beautiful bikes ever so shit for the right price it would look sweet in the living room...
I think he should be able to get anywhere from 2500-4500 for it as is, give or take since just going by what you posted...

i think for 2500 it would be a bargain, i would bet these bikes will start appreciating with in the next 5-10 years

If I saw correctly it looks like we are going to have some nice weather next week? I'm considering bringing my supermoto out of hibernation when I head back to Pullman on Sunday.

My first and only motorcycle is a Triumph Thruxton that I bought new in 2014.
I have done a bunch of mods to it and still have plans for it, but the Tacoma might take over for a bit.
My most recent upgrade was Ohlins rear suspension.

Here’s a pic of the suspension and another from cruising up Loma Prieta.

Love Santa Cruz! Spent all my summers there as a kid at my uncle's place. Lived on Portola in Capitola. Plenty of good riding around there for sure!

    How's the suspension??

Ive always like those/Bonneville's. I rode one for the day when I was in FL. It had some weird fake carb adjuster. Never understood what it did.

This is my favorite build of all time:

    None... yet.
Had a couple of nice days but, man, the roads still have so much freaking salt and gravel on 'em. Followed an R6 on the way home from work the other day and he was kicking up a nice little cloud of salt dust behind him. Supposed to rain most of the weekend so hopefully it will help clear off most of that crap...

Nice! I’m a recent transplant. Moved out here from New England this past October. The riding out here is incredible. I feel like I can just go back and forth on Route 9 all day haha.

This suspension is fantastic! No doubt it is way overkill for this bike, but I got a good deal on it for Black Friday. After a few years of wanting to upgrade it I finally pulled the trigger.

Haha yea they have that fake carb to make it look period correct, it’s pretty corny but oh well :D .

Is that a Down and Out build? A lot of their builds have that styling and they look sooooo good!

Nice! I have 2013 Thruxton that I hardly ever ride. I actually need to upgrade the regulator rectifier but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I am leaning toward Rick's setup since it is 100% plug and play. Are you still running the oem unit or have you upgraded? If the latter, what to?

I am still running the oem unit, but now that you’re mentioning it may not be a bad idea to look into upgrade options. I’m not sure what the typical lifespan is on them, but I am over 20k miles.

i upgraded from a Sena unit to a Cardo PackTalk Bold and it's miles better than my Sena. Sena was first into the market, and they were ok. but Cardo has raised the bar in a big way. Cardo Mesh is amazing if you ride with others. sound is fantastic. battery is great and the interface is ultimately better, but takes a little while to memorize what button does what.

I had sena too and got rid of it. Sena tends to get used a lot by people though. I personally thought the speakers sucked and i hated the boom mic on the smh10. I originally started with uclear but went to sena since thats what my friends had.

Im back to uclear with a motion infinity. Minor complaints on it: i dont like having to push the button multiple times to change volume substantially, beeps for button presses are bit loud. Otherwise im happy. Actually having to send mine in for repair (only one speaker is playing) but they said theyd repair or give me a new one.

Cardo is miles ahead of Sena. Sena isn’t even waterproof rated

I'm still on the old Sena SMH-10. I used to use it a lot for bike to bike communication as my ex rode her own bike not just used rider-passenger. Music is okay but not great but that's not a big deal for me when riding. I rode for over 20 years without anything so whatever I use will be good enough. My big need in a com unit is ease of use and durability. I like the Sena ability to charge while using and only 2 buttons to deal with.
