I've had the pedal commander installed for over a year and have really enjoyed it.

Starting about 3 months ago, seemingly out of no where, I began to have some issues which I believe I have traced back to the PC. While driving, seemingly randomly, my check engine and traction control lights come on, and there is an error message displayed that says something to the effect of "manual brake override malfunction." When this occurs, the truck won't accelerate and the speed is capped at around 20 mph even with the gas pedal to the floor.

The problem is resolved by disconnecting the PC. When I do this, and restart the truck, the error message is gone. The check engine light remains lit for 1-2 days, but shuts off spontaneously. I have reconnected the PC after that and it works as it had before for a variable period of time (this has happened 3 times over the past few months).

When it first happened I posted here and someone suggested the PC as the cause. I was skeptical since I had it installed for so long without issues but it seems as though this is the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to what I can do to address it? I have not reached out to PC yet - I realize this might be the right thing to do, but since lots of folks have one installed I'd see if I was alone in this issue.

    Thanks!

Don't know the fix, but I'd take that thing out before it fries your ECU. Get the truck tuned with a high throttle tip in value if you like the PC.

Exact same thing happened to my buddy after running PC for about 7 months on his 17 sport. He removed it and no issues now. I would take that thing out for sure.

Tune is the way to go.

Remove it. It’s obviously the cause if removing it fixes the problem.

Thanks. I'll look into a tune as I know nothing about that process - I am aware of OVTune or whatever is now morphed into but not sure how to make that happen.

As for the PC - I figured it was the problem, the post was mainly to see if others experienced the same issue and if there was a fix?

what city/state are you in? There are plenty of folks on here that offer OVTune. It's worth every penny. Sell the PC and it's just about a wash to get the tune.

I just ditched my PC and just got the OV tune. Best decision for this Tacoma I’ve ever made. All I can say I WOW on the tune. Completely different truck. However, never had an issues with the PC in the few months I used it.

Thanks for the advice. I found a guy that will be offering these locally next weekend so it looks like i'll be ditching the PC and going this route.

Anything specific I need to ask for/know about the tune?
