How're you liking the re-gear? And the Smart Cap for that matter?

 

So thankful my ol man is a big sports fan, and was a varsity athlete and swim coach.

Yeah I have increased my actual auto knowledge and some actual abilities (still mostly basic stuff!). I think my wallet has dropped more than my hands and brain have absorbed...but it all takes a bit of time.

 

Can I like a post more than once!?!?

Might want to venture over to the thread for it. Some folks were having minor issues with it.

 

Yeah I saw that....most, if not all, related to water intrusion, correct? I've been intrigued by these things since they came out, as well....the idea of it being modular and able to support so much dynamic weight is what's most attractive to me anyway. I DID see a post or two about the wonky lock design making it possible to lock yourself in the camper shell as well; has that been resolved? Still a really cool setup.

 

I stepped out of the thread after I got my Softopper, but guys were having some minor leaking issues. I believe a few in colder climates had problems with the locks freezing. Some weren't hot on the overall fitment. And last I saw, a guy was able to reach his arm out the side window to get himself out if locked inside. It does look like the company is open to critique and making changes.

It's definitely a cap I was interested in, but a Softopper has tempered the interest for the time being.

Also, how did you "cover" the cuts? From what I can see, your's is much cleaner that what I ended up doing. Thanks again.

I'm down in Stafford now (just moved like a year ago from centreville), so it's an easy stop for me! I am getting the SC installed tomorrow, but we should plan a meetup. It would be nice to meet people from the area over a beer or two, or three.....

 

gears i'm still in the baby phase, just hit 500 miles and need to change the gear oil. but so far went from 11-12 mpg to 14-16, feels smoother too.

the cap i'm really waiting to see how it does on the trail but so far i'm in love with the stainless steel quality of it.

Also, just tried this jerky from New Mexico I ordered....green chile flavor and it's like crispy thin jerky.....will have to bring that along because.....well.....it induces more beer drinking!

 

Poor puppers. Had to have the last of her teeth pulled on Wednesday.

 

That sucks.....time to blend up some good venison!
