This road was marked open on the old map, still marked open on the new one. Has been bermed since I took this pic last spring.

 

Can you pin the location on a google map? I'd like to reference it with the Interactive online USFS map to see if it's more up to date.

Yeah, it's still marked open on the interactive map. 1773 Watkins, I tried finding the other end but where it should have been was actually a cow pasture.

The grumpy old dudes driveway that I confidently led Terra and 10 up is still on the new MVUM too. I'm suspecting the only thing that changed on the map is the date on the cover. EDIT It's marked open on the interactive too.

It might be worth calling the USFS office to ask or shoot them an email. I'm sure that there are a lot of roads designated open, but nobody has come to take the sign down.

 

I wonder if there is a need for the local USFS to have volunteers check roads and signage to help keep the map info correct. Maybe it wasn't the forest service that put the sign up?

 

Yeah I though that at first, but now there's a berm on that end along with the sign.

 

IMMA git me a sign and a bulldozer and claim a spot in the NF.

 

Looks like a temp DOT sign. Lot of parks services and such use them too. Might be worth calling and asking. If they're anything like other local/state agencies, they leave signs all over the place and are too lazy to remember to pick them up

 

That was my thought too. The Ozarks USFS generally aren't staffed as densely like places out West.

 

Easy now...I work for one of those state agencies It's usually not laziness, it's usually too much work not enough people.

EDIT: If I recall, there are only 2 rangers for the entire Ozark NF. Some districts don't even have one. They have USFW Service and AOGC Wildlife Officers doing double duty. Although, they have been writing violations for MVUM compliance.

 

This is what I was saying. Props to those guys for having such a huge jurisdiction. I've seen a good interview with them that really impressed me and I came away with the feeling that they are just a very few committed people down there. That's why I was suggesting contacting them and finding out if there is a way to coordinate volunteers or something similar. Heck, I'd even drive down to help out.

Not sure about Grubs - In Trellis Square by there by Chilis.

 

I don't think Chilis is there anymore, but yeah its in that parking lot, I went by last month when they had one.

Mostly Tacoma’s/4Runners, but I think there was a Jeep or 2 and a Chevy Colorado, and a Subaru.

Not sure yet. I’m just now starting my research. I’m a newbie and the amount of information and opinions on suspension/wheel/tire setups is endless. I do want to thank everyone for all the responses. I appreciate all the recommendations.
