Hmmm, well about as well as if someone went into other forums and ragged incessantly about their trucks. Should we try it.

How long has he been gone, and is he a friend or just a "work friend"?

It would be awesome, but knowing Toyota, that would be a $60K Tacoma!!

Agreed. Man I was really excited about the Zr2 when it was announced. The Chevy at the dealership had condensation in a headlight and both tail lights, one of the radio knobs fell off, and when I opened the rear slider, it got stuck. I thought, man if this is what they're displaying to us in a brand new truck, imagine this thing a few years down the road. That trip to the dealer convinced me that we (Domestic brands) just aren't ready to compete with what's been tried and true in places like the Middle East, Africa, and Outback Australia. It's a shame. There are no million-dollar shops every few blocks, no ASE-trained mechanics...your vehicle has to either be reliable, or be simple enough to get fixed by whoever owns a wrench in the next village. Someone else said it here...Toyota and Land Rovers thrive worldwide because of that. Spend a bit overseas in those places and that's a HUGE percentage of what you see.

Exactly, which is why, I have been telling whiners who think a Chevy or Ford is better, to go and trade their truck for one. I have lived with american trucks most of my life. This is my third toyota truck. The first two were in the mid 80's and early 90's. After living with american trucks for so many years, I can safely say that the infrequent problem you see here is something that is common place in the american trucks and even though people slam the ford ranger, after so many years of owning chevy, ford and dodge, the most reliable american trucks have been the fords.

Based on the comments it tells me their videos are working. People still think the Gladiator is better off-road and that the ZR2 and Rubicon’s are more capable because they are “trail ready.” I’ve wheeled on a bunch of trails with all of these vehicles from stock to now and none of them are grossly more capable than the Tacoma.

They are on paper. Magazines may have died but magazine racing is alive and well! Honestly the only thing from those trucks I think Toyota is dropping the ball on is OEM sliders. Think of all that sweet accessories cash then are leaving on the table.

Around here, capability comes down to how much you like your body panels and paint. Approach, departure, break over, turning radius and overall size are a problem for any midsize truck on our trails.

A two door Wrangler is really the way to go. Since I'm not a rich man, I stick to two wheels for my real offroad fun.

I'm just tired of the TFL formula and hit the "Do not recommend this channel". It was the addition of the kid that got me. He has no screen presence even if he seems fairly knowledgeable. Also stop trying to make your own expensive car auction site! You don't have the clout for it!

I seen these episodes. Here is the deal.

these TFL guys certainly do not understand the traction systems on any vehicles. And they probably get sponsorship or got a massive discount via a handshake advertising deal. Yes. This is extremely common. Everyone is dirty.

since they don’t understand the traction systems, the most dumb by default systems work best for them. That is the LSD diffs in the jeeps. They always turn off the electric systems that limit slip so they create a open differential situation. From there, failure is imminent for them.

they also drive off road fir years and year yet seem to learn absolutely nothing. It’s a brain thing. Salesmen are not so smart and that’s what they are. Look at Toyota salesmen trying to explain trd features. It’s a joke.

their audience is a mix of knowledgeable people that discount their conclusions but enjoy the circus, and naive people that can not be bothered to research a little or don’t care - they’ll never use the features anyway.

it’s like those other videos where you know if the guy just aired down turned trac back on, and just used what they are not even aware of - it would be easy.

I just seen a guy ‘teaching us ‘ crawl control. He tries a hill and turned everything off. Couldn’t get it it. It was open diffed. He turned on crawl control, which in turn uses the traction system primarily, and it went up without issue.

Then he claimed he could only get up with crawl. Which was true for him but no the truck. But let’s face it, these are not the most articulate, hence the sharpest tools in the shed group of people anyway.

fools are always fool. We can’t really change it. But yes, frustration and the resulting bad advertising due to simple jack if what really is intelligence or intentional disabling for thier promotion of not Toyota deal is obvious.

how knows. It could be a test they did and the dealer kissed them off so they have a vendetta.

The guys son obviously has more lights on at home so when he takes over, and he will within a decade (it’s all he has for income and experience), it should more fair. Until ... even a little power to influence corrupts.
