Yeah I hear ya! That said, the deals are still there. Coworker just picked up a Kimber micro new for $600. Also found once fired 9mm brass, pre-primed for about 15 cents a round. Just have to be patient. If you you need it now... lube up!

 

Hey any of you guys have a recommendation for drywall texturing? got a bunch of small/medium sized (large to me being a full wall) areas to texture after my kitchen remodel finishes.... thanks in advance

a nationwide 1100 page thread of "what have you done to your house today?" isn't all that useful, looking for local recs, and i figure most of the locals that peruse TW do check in on this thread. although just to be sure, i searched "reno texture" and "reno drywall" and came up empty.

 

YouTube will have more useful information than here

 

You can ask the same question in that thread, I wasn't implying that you read/search through 1100 pages.

yeah i guess i wasn't super clear: i don't want to do the texture myself. i want to hire someone to do it. the areas are too large to where if i fuck up, it's gonna be noticed. Please, Reno TW, recommend a good and reasonably priced company that i can pay to texture my walls

 

yeah i figured that out after i clicked the "post reply" so appologies if i came across as a dickalope. i just figured that anyone that might have a rec would be here, and very few if any would be on that other thread (first time i've seen that one, does look like a good one to follow though).

 

I used to work for Stitser Drywall and the tapers they used would do side jobs all the time. I'm not in touch with any of them anymore. I would call around and get estimates. Maybe ask some of the tapers for a weekend side job.

 

No problem, that's why I edited my response. It sounds like it's a fairly small job so you might have to try Angie's or Craigslist for drywall finishers or painters.

 

i checked out Stitser and they are commercial. do i just call them up and ask if they can put me in touch with a taper looking for side work?

 

I know they used to have a taper named Lonnie, you can try asking for him. Other than that I'm not sure. Also try Pinnacle Drywall and Stucco. At one time them and Stitser where on the same lot and used each other for work.

 

Actually if you can get ahold of Ryan Johnson at Stitser he might be able to get you sorted with a taper. He's a lead foreman.

 

I'll be checking out 1st and 10 this weekend! Gonna spend a lot of time painting the new place so I'll be needing food.

- lol and speaking of texturing; I had to do a bunch of it after filling in these massive holes whoever lived there left. I hope it came out good enough that ya can't notice! I used that orange peel stuff from home depot - but it had great reviews... :/

 

haha yah i used a couple cans on that for some quick repairs next to the backsplash so i could get the tile up. turned out OK given its a small area. don't think anyone but me will notice. won't dare try that stuff for the larger areas

 

Totally hear ya, man. The areas we used it on were definitely smallish areas that were kind of random so I think one would need to really look if it's at all noticeable. Just hoping it comes out good!
