Kings aren't all that long to cause issues with the factory upper control arm, or better yet, the ball joint -

That's me with factory UCAs and King ext coilovers. Tons of other people have run the same setup without issue.

I was surprised how much shorter the kings are in length

Taking the right lines is a free mod anyone can do with either the right spotter, or enough personal experience.

They're only a smidge shorter than other coilovers, someone posted a side by side pic with some ADS coilovers the other day and it wasn't even a half inch I don't think. Can't find the post or I'd quote it.

I mean even a little bit can make a big difference in the right situation, but it's not as bad as everyone thinks it is

Well coming from toytec those coils were longer then the ones on the kings for sure. Before I wasn’t topping out on speed bumps now I am. Getting the preload adjusted though so

yeah I would adjust the preload for sure, or you can swap coils to get more lift without needing to add preload. Mine came with 600# springs, not sure on the length. But needed a good 14+ threads of preload when I had 2.5" of lift and it was not good for the ride quality. I think I run mine at about 8 or 9 threads showing now.

Something isn't right if speed bumps are an issue. I run through them at over +30mph and feel nothing.

Might just be that 600# springs are too heavy duty for his front end, esp with a 4 banger

Wasn’t a issue prior to putting on kings. Going over bumps it feels like it compression and then doesn’t have enough length and maybe over extends not quite sure learning it as I go

Can always get the Kings custom valved and it will help. Not sure where you're located but Accutune is in SoCal and highly regarded for shock work, they're pretty responsive on here too with answers to questions

Exactly why I said something isn't right.

You bought them used, so really everything is questionable vs having bought them new.

I think I understand what he's saying though, mine were definitely really stiff when I first put them on compared to the 5100s/881 combo I had on before. I remember my first drive thinking it was going to be butter and going over a dip in the road at speed and thinking WTF did I just do to my truck lol.

Lessening the preload helped a ton, as did putting more weight on the front end (steel bumper)
