If an automatic transmission works perfectly I still wouldn't like it.

I didn't get any packages. Going with a dcsb, superwhite, mt, roof rack, trd exhaust. Simple, but I like it

Sounds awesome, sometimes it takes awhile to get the MT but its worth the wait! You may want to reconsider the white paint though as it seems to have problems flaking off on many Tacoma's as you will see on this site.

    You didn't ask me, but...

Here is the config I chose. This is unavailable via the Toyota configurator due to the technology package/led headlight combo requiring a cement truck for whatever reason. The dealer was able to configure it just fine, however.

Could've saved $800 nixing the tech package and getting led headlights and TRD Premium ala carte, but figured "why not?"

I'll see if it's too late to change it. Any other. Color having trouble or just white

There was a Metallic Blue that had fading issues but that color was discontinued.

Paint flaking off my 2017 Tacoma | Page 11 | Tacoma World

I wasnt trying to talk you out of something you really like but just wanted to make you aware of the potential issue, the problem seems to go awhile back too as 2nd Gens in White seem to flake too.

FWIW, I know 2 dudes personally with super white. One is 17 with 65k miles and other with 35k miles, zero issues on both. 17 goes off-road quite often, that’s my camping taco buddy:)

Both made in Texas if that makes any difference.

Add me to the list - 17 Super White, no flaking issues. How do I figure out where it was made?

In the interest of not being a twat...over those 25 years, how many were truck based? I've got over 20 years of consistent manual transmission driving, but it's been things like a Jeep YJ, chevy trucks, a pile of toyota's, and some class 8 dump trucks. I'd say my high mark for transmission was my 96 2.7 taco. This one is pretty darn close. The shift tower feels much more positive, just the gear engagement isn't quite there. I'm suspicious that 186,000 miles vs 1,500 might be a large part of that...

Anyway, I've driven a hand full of sporty car manuals (infinity G35, catfish camaro SS, some german stuff) and it's such a different experience. If you come from that background, I can see why the praise for this transmission seems fanboi-ish.

Edit: anyone who says the stock clutch system isn't trash is lying to themselves. It's definitely fine enough that I'm not rushing out to do the ADM...but it will get done
