I really like how my snail armor has the contour cutout at the bottom and the flush screws (in this install pic you can see the countersunk screw holes). It makes the surface nice and flat with no ridge or weird screw issues. I ended up using the stock screws on the sides and top because there might be such a thing as too smooth, and the flush mount on the bottom.

I took this pic incase there was a misalignment. As I put screws in everything lined up perfect. Instead the pic is just a good example of the shape the cut at the bottom of the tailgate (top of the pic)that matches the tailgate metal contour to make everything so simple and smooth.

SnailArmor panel was delivered yesterday. Its a nice black textured coating. All the holes lined up perfect. I put a bead of clear silicone on tailgate before installing to prevent possible metal on metal noise.
I also fluid filmed the inside of the tailgate to hopefully prevent rust.

They threw in a cup holder of sorts, and are looking for feedback on it. It's a an aluminum ring that
you can bolt down in just about any of the bolt locations. It would work to prevent cups and bottles from sliding
around, but they could still be knocked over easily. Personally, it would have interfered with most of the stuff I slide
in and out of my bed, so I left it off. Nice idea though.

I got the cupholder also. I'm not installing it for the same reason. I haven't had any issues with things sliding and anything I've bumped hard enough would have just tipped over out of the ring. I'm keeping the ring around because I feel like I'll repurpose it for something random and awesome. I might be a hoarder.

:D You're not alone. It's not going anywhere, I just hope I can find it again when inspiration strikes.

So when I ordered there was an issue with having everything in stock. To get me that sweet instant gratification they sent the panel without hardware. In the picture you quoted if you look at the holes you can see they are designed to accept a flush mount screw. I installed immediately and just used the stock screws with no problems. The hardware showed up a week or so after the panel. I got a note with the screws apologizing for the delay and explaining that future sourcing of screws would probably be different. While my order had some hiccups along the way Jimmy was good about contact and effort. Here is a pic of how it looks today (I left the stock screws on the side intentionally because I've never wanted anything to slide off the side... maybe the extra bumps will help keep things on) :

Interesting. I received my panel last week with no hardware. I just installed it with OEM screws. I wonder if new screws are still coming or if I threw them away with the cardboard box accidentally

I’m glad recycling wasn’t last week. I found the hardware/screws in the bottom of the flat box. The countersunk screws were just installed. Perfect fit! Thanks

Haven't even received mine yet - but I cant say enough (good) about Jimmy and the customer service.

I ordered one March 27th (a Saturday). I also knew it was on backorder according to the site - I was fine waiting. Monday morning I had an email from Jimmy just following up about the backorder status (and even giving timeline details - which wasn't necessary but is great customer service). He was very transparent and, honestly, just super down to earth and seems to care about the customer.

Looks like I should receive it sometime next week. +10000 recommendation (so far) for the SnailArmor panel!

Anyone notice any issues with the exposed lip of the tailgate getting scratched when sliding stuff in and out of the bed? I like this panel but I don’t want to ruin the paint on the exposed portion

I have this on top of the snailarmor. Love it and helps protect the area you mention as well as keeps rocks and other debris from falling down the gap when hauling items. I can post pics later if anyone wants.
