2.113 quarts op didn’t say if this brought it to the full mark? Or just added 2 liters.
My 08 2.7 was consuming oil at like 140k
Noticed I didn’t get out what I put in at oil change. At 170k I was checking checking often and adding if needed.
Rip she was totaled at 196k.
    Didn’t smoke didn’t leak?

New to me taco has the 6 way more power. I haven’t done anything to it yet so warm weather I’ll see if it’s as easy to work on. The 2.7 was super easy for most stuff.

    This would be awesome.
It would definitely help other guys if they ever have to do this.
    Hopefully, I never do. :fingerscrossed:

you're usually looking at a teardown to figure out what went wrong
    maybe a bearing was damaged
it sounds like it was low on oil or had a clogged passageway

given you bought it at 300k it is quite possible the previous owners neglected the fuck out of it
which means anything can get screwed
oil pickup tube screen (if these engines have one), passage ways, and so on

normally clear passages that oil flows through, being blocked by sludge due to dumbasses failing to replace $12 oil and $5 filters on a $16k truck

I mean you can always try things and throw shit at it
it's not gonna hurt, the engine is already fucked
normally you test an engine's moveability by turning it over in direction of rotation (usually clockwise) via the crank pulley bolt using a socket that fits and long ratchet, maybe 1/2. Movement means it moves. No movement means it's siezed. Like if a piston is melted and glued to the cylinder wall.
Unless you visually inspect with a flashlight and find something else such as a rod shot through the block.

Knocking usually means worn excessive clearance on bearings such as crank bearing making noise.
That will cause oil pressure loss.
Instead of oil flowing through thin clearances in the crank bearing and still holding it's pressure, the clearance becomes too loose and the oil has pressure drop.

Like water having pressure through a garden hose. If you enlarge that hose width to a foot, it has less pressure.
And pressure is what you need to get the oil all the way up to critical components, initially sent by the oil pump.
Stuff that I guess is hard to just see with the naked eye from above without looking deeper into the engine whether it be by disassembly, borescope, and so on.

But yeah. The 1GR-FE is common and used on many vehicles 05-15 era.
So hopefully people do not charge an arm and a leg for what is essentially a slow, old, boring, low power design engine super common for many years that does not even have a turbo or supercharger.
You can probably buy a German car engine for as cheap as $400.
But I'm sure people will try to ask more for this "BCUZ TOYOTA!"
even if their engine is fucked up too somehow and has no clean bill of health proof, "BCUZ TOYOTA RELIABLE!"
even though the seller has zero indication their engine was taken care of and only knows it was yanked from some 4runner or whatever that flipped off a mountain

HAHAHA The guy before me knew jack shit about the truck I got a stack of receipts from him bringing it to the mechanic. I'm going to pour acetone and auto trans fluid down each cylinder for a week and see if I can turn it over figure not much else can be hurt! I'm gonna pull the oil pan see if I can just polish up the journals and pop some new bearings on for the moment until I get a new engine.

I'm hoping just the bearing went and didn't damage anything else badly.

As far as a German car goes I'm driving a 1.8T Jetta now, the most reliable car I've ever had! I totally agree Toyota is overrated in terms of reliability. What do you think about this? I found an engine for 3k CAD with 163000KMS from a 2011 taco.

A low mileage used engine is the way to go, but do your homework. Get the VIN from the donor vehicle and run a carfax. See how many owners it had, and whether any maintenance was recorded. Also verify the miles!
