Why would they coat the Intake valve stem seal and not the Exhaust?

    Seems backwards to me, if anything. And why would you even need to coat a part that doesn't see friction or excessive heat?

    My best guess is, to differentiate one from the other?
    Maybe there is a difference in the 2?
    Or it may just be for quick identification?

    There is a difference in the ones I took off for sure. The intake is slightly shorter and more silver metal, but both rubber is black, perhaps just due to age
