I have a '16 Toyota Tacoma OR DCLB. I use it mostly off road (duh?). I want to make it the best overlanding vehicle I can while keeping it as stock as possible. I currently have a Leer 100XR canopy, TopperEzLift system, platform in bed for camping, and some rad decals. I also removed my rear seats and placed a piece of plywood over for the added space (no kids/pets). I want to make it as overland capable while keeping it as stock as possible. I don't want to add any extra weight than what's there + my camp gear. Any help is appreciated! TIA!

The Tacoma in stock form is fully capable of "overlanding" with no modifications outside of a decent set of tires.

Do you have any more questions that are specific? Is the ground clearance too low? Is the ride harsh? Do you want to figure out wiring for a fridge? Do you want a better sleeping setup?

    I have these tires: https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-all-terrain-adventure.

I have all recovery gear and, with all my camp gear and my setup, I have approximately 200-400 lbs GVWR remaining. Just want to make sure I'm not needing anything specific like suspension or shocks. My husband wants to lift & add custom bumpers and whatnot. It's my truck and I don't want to ruin it with unnecessary stuff.

An ARB awning might be nice to have. Not much weight, aerodynamic... meals and lounging while staying out of the sun/rain without needing to be “inside”.

Of course there’s always the minimalist “blue tarp” option, too.

I'm all set w/camp gear, lol. Just making sure nothing vehicle-specific is needed.

Overlanding is just a fancy word for car camping. Enjoy your truck and you camping setup. Sounds/looks like you’re good to go.
