yea that one would work. theres others out there too. as for mounting the cooler. I would just make some simple brackets that bolt to stock core support areas... thats how the old TRD trans coolers were

Would it be smart to use this radiator for a manual trans truck? The radiator would only be 2 rows for coolant at that point? can you leave the trans points capped off?

    It’s a gamble, 50 percent are failing.

You can just cap off the trans lines.

Long term might be an issue

champion radiators are good, I believe the problem is people hard mount them. You have to soft mount aluminum radiators as the heat affected areas will tear and crack. Got it really quick from Jegs and mounted it with rubber spacers and drilled out the holes for more movement. It is solid and has squish to it. We shall see how it lasts.

I did that with large rubber mounts,,
Mine separated in two places top and bottom tanks where the tanks were connected to the vertical core sections

I think the real problem is the frame of the Champion radiator is not boxed and lacks strength.

    Look at the support brackets,
    Its not one solid frame.

Look at my custom radiator how the outside frame is boxed welded as one solid frame

Looks like Koyorad Racing released a Taco radiator too. Presser is dated September 2020...
    http://www.koyoradracing.com/news.asp?id=200
    Part #VH010513

I put the 4Runner radiator in my truck but it wouldn't clear the '95.5-00 hoods, so I guess this new one must.

Edit: Radiator table says it's compatible with 95-04 Tacomas that use the 3.6L V6 engine...hah oops

I emailed Koyorad to get the height on that one - their 4Runner radiator is too tall for any approach angle advantages...

It's a manual radiator. So it'll be much short than the AT one the 4runner is. Even says so in the description. It's made for manuals so it'll be even with the frame rails if they did it right to match the 5spd fan shroud. Which I'd imagine they did as they talk about how AT owners should just get a MT shroud or alter their AT ones possibly.

You'd think that, but Koyorad made their 4Runner version a manual radiator as well - but in the AT height. They completely misjudged the market on that one; hoping they didn't on this one also.

yeah, I'd be pissed if it hung below the frame rails once I'd unboxed it!

Let me know if that is the case. I am in the market for something that gets above the frame rails so I can redo the front skid and get a little more approach angle.

Well last week my Koyorad Racing radiator developed a leak. From what I can tell, it's coming from the passenger side of the upper tank. I have not pulled the radiator out to inspect closely- just pulled the fan shroud off to document it.

This is a HUGE disappointment, given the higher cost of the radiator and that it was doing so well at keeping my EGTs down & engine running cool (1KZ motors are somewhat notorious for overheating and cracking blocks, so it's super important to keep them running cool).

The Koyorad Racing website says to contact the place of purchase for warranty claims, so I immediately reached out to Battleborn Offroad. Several days later, I received a 1-sentence response with the support number for Koyorad. I called the number and was told that Koyorad doesn't handle Koyorad Racing product stuff, but rather to email Koyorad Racing Support (he was actually as helpful as he could be, and provided the support email address). So I emailed Koyorad Racing support and immediately received a reply saying that Battleborn Offroad needs to handle the claim and suggested that I forward their response to Battleborn if needed. I reached BACK out to Battleborn a week ago and have yet to receive another response from them.
    IMG_9731.jpg

    Update 3/19/21:
After several more calls and emails to Battleborn, I received an automated order confirmation that a replacement was on the way. It showed up very quickly after that, but I'm still puzzled about why they never bothered to actually respond to me (other than the woman who picked up my phone calls...she was very nice but didn't have the answers).

I spent the evening dropping in the new radiator a couple weekends ago. Hopefully it stays leak-free for longer than the last one.

don't you have the 4runner one though? We are talking about the new tacoma specific one. Which is made for manuals and has not auto transmission cooler in it. Which alone should make it shorter.
